I don’t know why I keep doing this, but at some point I should probably stop watching videos for Gundam games that are likely never going to be released outside of Japan.  Maybe I’m just addicted to the notion of receiving a Gundam game that kicks ass and is fun, but watching a video and then feeling a wave of sadness overwhelm me at the end is something that I’m sure isn’t healthy by any means.

I know I'm not the only one who misses the arcade scene. I loved getting my buddies together on a weekend, pumping quarters into our favourite machines and trying to beat high scores over the din of the room. With a lot of talk going around about gaming as a social activity shape-shifting drastically, I fondly remember those arcade days.

Back in the day the San Diego Comic Con used to be an event that primarily focused on comic books with the occasional appearance by a high-profile movie, which in some cases was based on a comic book. But these days the San Diego Comic Con has grown to become a huge pop culture/geek heaven mega-event that includes panels for a ton of TV shows, genre films and of course video games.

At this point I think we’re all familiar with the documentary The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters.  Most of us have either heard about the 2007 documentary that chronicled the battle to become the Donkey Kong champ or we’ve watched the film countless times.

The saga over the quest to become the Donkey Kong champion has well been documented on Shogun Gamer and in other outlets.  After brining to light the epic Donkey Kong battle in the documentary “The King of Kong”, the Donkey Kong war between arcade auteur Billy Mitchell and Steve Wiebe has continued for the past four years with new combatants like Hank Chien entering the arena to trump both established champions.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 has been making the rounds lately with a series of cool videos, screens and details – all of which has provided some nice insight on the project.  Tekken Tag 2 may still seem like one of those games in which nothing major is being added, but there are a bevy of new improvements and additions like combo tag moves and the return of character based customizable costumes/accessories.  One other thing about Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is that the game looks rather pretty, as exemplified by these new screens.

Slowly but ever so steadily we’ve gotten more info and media for Tekken Tag Tournament 2. The fact that we’re getting another tag based entry in the Tekken series is rather surprising as the original Tekken Tag was a PS2 launch game – which you know was back in the day when some of you were only a four year-old gamer.

Donkey Kong high-score topped yet again. The battle begins again!
