THQ Signs Crytek To Develop Homefront 2 (No, I'm Not Trolling Everyone)

In news that is a complete shock, THQ has announced that a sequel to their FPS game Homefront is indeed still happening and none other than Crytek is developing it.  The studio best known for the Crysis series will be taking over the Homefront franchise in a currently unnamed sequel set for release in the 2013-2014 Q4 financial period.  While Crytek doesn’t have pure allegiance to any one publisher, a partnership with THQ to do a Homefront sequel of all things was something that no one could’ve expected.

Somewhat Vague Next-Gen Xbox Rumor Surfaces, Mentions New Version Of TimeSplitters

With E3 2011 being a thing of the past now I thought we were going to be in short supply as far as somewhat salacious yet possible legit rumors were concerned.

Crysis 2 [PS3 Review]

Overall Feeling:

Crysis 2 is literally a video game equivalent of a big Hollywood action movie. It has a lame and under developed plot, action that we’ve seen hundreds of times before along with amazing set pieces that are sometimes spread too far apart.  Crysis 2 isn’t a poorly developed game by any means but it’s just a title that didn’t live up to the hype it had nor did it succeed in blowing the competition away from a graphics perspective on the PS3 and Xbox 360.  As a FPS game Crysis 2 is sadly just another title that fails to stick out in a crowded market.

The Pros:

+ The Nano Suit is fun to use at times.
+ Crytek did an amazing job designing the look of a destroyed but still beautiful New York City.
+ I had a blast with the somewhat old-school approach the multiplayer mode took.

The Cons:

- The plot is painfully dull and it doesn’t help that there’s almost an ever constant flow of meaningless banter thrown about.
- Engaging in fire fights is often fun, but the game has an almost unfocused feel to it.
- Visually some of the graphics in the game are a bit disappointing given all the touting Crytek has done.
- Enemy A.I. is very hit and miss, with it sometimes being absolutely stupid.

ShogunGamer.com Rating :

Occasionally I may come across as the type of gamer who doesn’t like big AAA action games from mainstream developers or publishers.  While I may not be a big fan of franchises like Halo or Call of Duty, I’m not a snooty gamer who will turn their head away in disgust upon seeing a game that on the surface is an otherwise derivative product that really doesn’t do much need in the genre or as the industry as a whole.  In fact I sometimes relish the opportunity to play a game in which I know what I’m going to receive and I know that while it’ll lack the substance of smaller games or p

Crytek UK To Announce New Project Soon, Could Possibly Be A Timesplitters Sequel

When developer Free Radical closed their doors last year it was a sad thing since the company really didn’t show what they could do on this generation of hardware.  Haze, their first major release on the PS3/Xbox 360, proved to be disappointing in every way as the story was clunky and the gameplay was mostly boring in all its modern fps glory.  But nonetheless we awaited the announcement for a new entry in the Timesplitters series, but eventually such a thing never came to be as Free Radical was closed.

Crysis 2 PS3 Footage Finally Emerges From Obscurity

Crysis 2 is coming out next month, something I assume a few of you probably had marked on your calendars, and today finally brings us the long awaited reveal of one very important thing: footage of the game running on the PlayStation 3.  Whereas the first Crysis game was specifically made for the PC, Crysis 2 and the Crytek engine has been optimized for the consoles, but for the past year or something we haven’t seen a single vid showing the game on PS3 hardware.

Crysis 2 Trailer: Must Be Strong

A new trailer for Crysis 2 came out today titled Must be Strong.   The trailer shows off some more of the nanosuits powers that have already been seen in the original Crysis along with some new ones. Things that are new include some of the weapons such as the machine gun looking rocket launcher that blows up a tank. Along with the sniper rifle, there's also a new rocket launcher that shoots down a chopper.

EA announces a Crysis 2 multiplayer demo set to drop very soon

Next week is going to be a busy time on the demo front since aside from the Bulletstorm demo EA will also be releasing a multiplayer demo for Crysis 2.  Things on the Crysis 2 front have been somewhat low key and there doesn’t seem to be an extraordinary amount of hype for the game, which is odd considering it’s coming out in March.

Crysis 2 multiplayer footage takes the battle to the rooftops of New York

Crysis was a major hit on the PC, even if half the gamers who played the game weren’t able to reach the maximum performance levels to fully enjoy the jaw dropping graphics. But now it’s time for Crysis 2 to hit the PS3 and Xbox 360 and given the flooded market of fps games available, Crysis may have a tough battle in terms of breaking through to certain gamers.

Crysis 2: Nano Edition revealed (it's a pricey limited edition)

We all know that Crysis 2 just wouldn’t be the same let alone have the same impact if it didn’t have a limited/special/collector’s/we want your money edition.  I’m of course kidding as Crysis 2 can stand on its own weight without the aid of a limited edition. But of course since it’s a high profile release, Crysis 2 is indeed getting a Limited Edition which is of the “it’s cool but kind of goofy” variety.

EA announces new release date for Crysis 2

We’ve been hit with yet another major delay for a video game and this time it’s Crysis 2.  The delay was announced at EA’s earning call yesterday and developer Crytek’s sequel to the hit fps game will now drop in early 2011.
