THQ Signs Crytek To Develop Homefront 2 (No, I'm Not Trolling Everyone)

In news that is a complete shock, THQ has announced that a sequel to their FPS game Homefront is indeed still happening and none other than Crytek is developing it.  The studio best known for the Crysis series will be taking over the Homefront franchise in a currently unnamed sequel set for release in the 2013-2014 Q4 financial period.  While Crytek doesn’t have pure allegiance to any one publisher, a partnership with THQ to do a Homefront sequel of all things was something that no one could’ve expected.

THQ Closes Two Of Their Studios (Slightly Bad News If You Liked Homefront)

THQ seems to be one of the few video game companies this generation that are taking a gamble in what they do.  Most of the games THQ puts out may not be redefining a particular genre or become the gold standard for the industry, but we haven’t seen a dozen Call of Duty clones from THQ so far as the company is trying to branch out and do their own thing.  The aggressive attitude of THQ is something that I admire, but it now looks like yet another aggressive move has backfired on the company in a rather large way.

Pre-order Bonuses For Homefront Revealed

Those interested in getting Homefront just got a couple of incentives to pre-order a copy of the game as the retailer specific pre-order bonuses has been revealed.

Gamestop is usually the recipient of the better pre-order goodies offers but with Homefront, Best Buy clearly trumps them all.

Pre-order your copy from Gamestop and you will receive the Resistance Multiplayer Pack which includes an exclusive weapon, the 870 Express Shotgun and three day one MP unlocks which includes the Air Recon Drone, Auto Repair Ability and the Scar-L Assault Rifle.

THQ Provides the Details on Homefront for the PC

Homefront is a game that’s kind of pushed itself out of the spotlight. Back at E3 it was on the floor, but only being shown to select people and only in small groups. Since then we’ve gotten a few screenshots and videos here and there, but not a whole lot of detail about the game itself. THQ, in a massive press release, lifted the veil on the features and requirements (for the PC) today. The tip of the iceberg for the notes being: Steam connectivity (and sale), 3D support and details on the Multiplayer.

THQ strikes a deal with Microsoft concerning Homefront DLC

After staying somewhat neutral with the majority of their core properties, THQ has seemingly been moneyhatted by Microsoft. Or at least that’s what some gamers will think upon hearing the news that the first set of DLC for THQ’s upcoming fps Homefront will be released on the Xbox 360 first.

Newest Homefront video shows you what you're fighting for

THQ’s new fps game Homefront may look like a common modern based fps game, but it is trying to be different in how its story is told, what sort of scenarios the player is put in and what sort of feelings are had when forced to go head on into battle.  So far Homefront looks like it could be a surprise hit if developer Kaos pulls through in the end, which seems to be the case in this new developer video.

The battle comes to us in Homefront [Video]

As part of THQ’s ever growing quest to further extend their portfolio with engaging games, the company will be releasing Homefront early next year. Some of you may’ve heard about the modern warfare based fps by now as the game has made quite the splash over the past few months.  With a script being written by John Milius (Conan, Red Dawn), the game somewhat strikes a resonating chord as it features those dastardly North Koreans taking control of America.

THQ lays out it's upcoming slate of games

Financial report conferences for game companies aren’t always a complete bore that are merely full of self congratulatory updates or the dreaded gloom and doom announcements of company cutbacks.  While any financial report will feature those elements there’s usually some good stuff to come out them in the form of new games being announced.  Even though all we usually get is an unofficial name accompanied by a vague release window which is bound to be delayed four times it’s always good to know what a company has planned.

THQ takes the war to the Homefront

Today THQ announced their latest project in the form of “Homefront” a FPS from Kaos Studios who were responsible for last years Frontlines: Fuel of War. But instead of being a game that is entirely a fictional romp that takes players to an alien planet or takes place during a past war Homefront actually combines a bit of realism in its story.  The basic premise of Homefront is that it’s the year 2027; the United States has suffered an economic collapse and is now occupied by North Korea.
