Sci-Fi Horror Is Taken Down The Perma Death Path In The New FPS Routine

The success DayZ has received so far is rather shocking for a few reasons. First of all it’s a shock to see a major mod become more popular than the game it’s based upon but it’s also shocking to see a game that is so hardcore become popular. While this generation hasn’t entirely bred a new wave of gamers who abhor challenges, it’s certainly refreshing to see the whole perma death angle actually take off and be embraced.

Republique Developer Interview

Video games are meant to be exciting and provide entertainment, but they’re also meant, or at least allow, developers and gamers the chance to explore things never experienced before. Obviously games wow us by taking us to mythical worlds filled with dragons or cybernetic beings, but sometimes developers lose track of what makes a game truly compelling: its story. If the motivations aren’t there for gamers to sink their teeth into then the overall experience may be compromised to an extent even if the gameplay is fun.

Republique Is Coming To The PC and Mac

When it was announced there was a lot of excitement and general interest in Republique but the one problem some folks had was its choice of platform.  Being announced solely for iOS platforms was both a good and bad thing for Republique as it promised iOS gamers with a highly original and non-casual centric experience but at the same time it was bad news for everyone who doesn’t own an iOS device.

Aztez Developer Interview

One of the many wonderful things about indie games is that developers can do whatever they want.  While what they may create may not be an instant success that will go on to eclipse triple-A games, indie developers often bring fresh ideas to the table or at least provide concepts that are engaging if not visually amazing in the art department.  There is a certain level of pretension that’s to be had with certain indie games, but every now and then a game surfaces which is simple and is flat out fun in what it provides the player with.

Kings Quest III Redux

On the heels of Telltale Games' announcement of their planned Kings Quest reboot, AGD Interactive an indie dev who updates old adventure games, announced today their release of Kings Quest III.  Kings Quest III was originally released back in 1986, and for you young whipper-snappers out there who don’t know what King’s Quest is its Sierra’s version of Telltale’s Sam and Max, or their more recent Back to the Future release.  The game followed the adventures

A New Sci-Fi RTS Is Announced In The Form of Fray

I really don’t care if it’s for a genre I’m not terribly fond of, but if I’m shown a cool video for a game that has a nice premise along with some unique concept art, you got me hooked for the time being. An example of this is the recently announced turn-based strategy game Fray. Developed by indie French studio Brain Candy, Fray is a multiplayer centric strategy game that involves gamers entering virtual worlds in an attempt to escape the ever growing problems that face the world at the onset of global warming.

Back To The Future: The Game - Episode 2 Trailer Has Lots of Tannen Action

Yesterday was a special day for PS3 owners as they were finally able to experience episode 1 of Back to the Future: The Game.  PC and Mac owners have been lucky enough to play the BTTF game for the past two months but now those who prefer the comfort of a PS3 controller to that of a mouse and keyboard can have themselves a fun time travelling experience as Marty McFly.

Some images of Telltale Games' Jurassic Park game have finally emerged

Last weekend the internet blew up when the first details on Telltale Games’ upcoming Jurassic Park game finally surfaced.  Even though the Jurassic Park game wasn’t going to feature laser strapped dinosaurs or a highly intelligent breed of dinos who were commandos (like the JP4 script) the game still sounded really interesting.

BBC announces Doctor Who: The Adventure Games

The famous British sci-fi show Doctor Who is finally making its video game debut with Doctor Who: The Adventure Games. The project doesn’t exactly have the best subtitle, but it's Doctor Who so it’s bound to be awesome right?
