Metal Gear Solid Becomes Even More Strategy Focused In Risk: Metal Gear Solid (This Isn't A Joke)

I had to do a double take on this news as I thought it was merely a prank of sorts to capitalize on the sometimes over-eager video game press and fans but Konami is co-developing a Metal Gear Solid version of the popular board game Risk.  Now you must be saying that the stealth action of MGS would be perfect for the tactical heavy nature of Risk as the two unlikely combinations would be perfect for a video game. The thing is that the Risk adaptation of MGS is going to be an actual board game and not a video game.

E3 Megaton Announcement #1: Konami & Kojima Productions Reveal MGS HD Collection and Zone of the Enders HD Collection

Today has been rather interesting for a few reasons, the biggest of which is how the Konami pre-E3 press conference turned out to be a bit of a bust.  Instead of dishing out a live press conference filled with a bunch of snafus and Japanese developers totally going ape shit crazy on stage, Konami opted to go with a pre-recorded presentation featuring segments dedicated to specific games like MGS 3: 3DS Edition and Never Dead.  The event, which has some cool moments (Silent Hill: Downpour and Never Dead may actually be good) but the biggest reveal belongs to none other than Hideo K

Some Incredibly Interesting Metal Gear Rumors Surface

One thing about E3 and the days leading up to the event that has always tickled my fancy are the various pre-E3 rumors we receive. Most of the time it’s fun to get a little tease of something that’s going to be revealed on the show floor or during a press conference even if it takes away from the overall surprise factor that E3 presents every year.  But every now and then we get a rumor that completely stretches the realm of reality in terms of its believability.

MGS Collectors Ought To Take Note Of This New Kojima Tease

Being a gamer and an overall geek, I like to collect cool action figures or statues of popular video game characters I like.  Having laid down $260 on the Sideshow Collectibles Kratos statue, I find myself having to lessen my budget for somewhat superfluous things like picking up a Ratchet & Clank figure but I can only hope this tease of a Metal Gear Solid figure isn’t in the $100+ category.

Konami Announces New Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Clothing Line

The reach of the Metal Gear Solid franchise has no boundaries as we’ve seen products for the franchise range from affordable action figures, high-end statues, limited edition clothing and even MGS branded food (which sadly was exclusive to Japan).  Once again the MGS franchise is reaching out to gamers who want to express their fandom of the series by wearing t-shirts and clothing that aren’t of a Hot Topic quality. Instead, if you want what appears to be high-end clothes based on MGS then you may want to check out what Konami has announced today.

Hideo Kojima Mentions A Mysterious New Project

Hideo Kojima is up to his usual antics on Twitter and I’m not referring to him Tweeting about his journey to McDonalds to have a Texas 2 Burger.  Instead of talking about his meals and other things, all of which is usually cool, Kojima has made a classic stealth Tweet concerning his latest project. As always the Tweet is vague, somewhat elusive and is filled with no real details yet here we are, overly hyped because Kojima is a game god.

Is a Metal Gear Solid HD Collection inbound? [RUMOR]

It just wouldn’t be a normal week in the video game industry if a rumor didn’t pop up that made all of us put on our speculation and bullshit meter hats in an attempt to see if the news was legit.  This week’s juicy rumor revolves around the much wanted release of a Metal Gear Solid HD remix trilogy for the PS3.  Since the cool thing to do these days amongst publishers is to release HD remix collections of classic PS2 games, Konami may finally jumping on with a rumored MGS trilogy exclusively for the PS3.

Konami already looking for staffers for "next-gen" version of Metal Gear Solid

I don’t know if Hideo Kojima’s paranoia has set in, if Konami has dragged him back or if he’s just bored, but a recent post on the Konami jobs page all but confirms that Konami/Kojima Productions is working on the next iteration of the Metal Gear Solid franchise.  There was never any doubt that the MGS franchise wouldn’t come back in some form, but the Konami jobs listing is interesting primarily because it’s seeking staff to work on a “next-gen” installment of the Metal Gear series.

The Metal Gear Solid movie is officially dead for the time being. YAY!!!

The planets must’ve aligned as the live-action film based on Metal Gear Solid looks to be not happening anytime soon.  Last we heard in the saga of the MGS movie director Paul W.S. Anderson (Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil) expressed some interest in tackling Solid Snake’s big screen debut. Perhaps that’s why Konami seemingly saved the day for gamers by putting the kibosh on the project.

Paul W.S. Anderson has gone from directing Mortal Kombat to Resident Evil and now he wants a stab at Metal Gear Solid

Director Paul W.S. Anderson has an extremely mixed reaction when it comes to movie watchers and the gaming community.  Say what you will but the man brought the world of Mortal Kombat to life back in 1995 and he gave us what is still probably one of the best video game film adaptations ever despite the few story concessions that were made.  Paul then followed MK up with the sci-fi horror film Event Horizon, which was an inspiration for the game Dead Space, and the old-school action film Soldier.
