Sony E3 2011 Conference Wrap-Up

The last month hasn’t exactly been nice to Sony despite the continued success of the PS3 and the hype train that has been rolling for the NGP/PlayStation Vita.  Having things like your security be hacked and having an integral part of your network and revenue source be down for the month will hurt any company, if not because it becomes the source of jokes amongst everyone but because it may make gamers flock to another system.

The Potential Blunder Moments Of E3 2011

Every year gamers look forward to one specific thing due to the near endless joy that it offers. No, I’m not referring to the ever so crowded but amazing Winter release schedule that this year will bring us games such as Uncharted 3 and Modern Warfare 3.  I’m instead referring to E3 and the near infinite amount of amazement it offers.

Wipeout 2048 Offers Some New Tricks While Keeping The Same Wipeout Flair [Video]

Today the floodgates have opened on a bevy of games that will be available later this year on the NGP (soon to be called the PlayStation Vita).  Uncharted: Golden Abyss looks spectacular on Sony’s handheld but one game that is 100% a day 1 purchase (even if makes my bank account have a negative balance) is Wipeout 2048.  Earlier this morning we received some screens of Wipeout’s debut on the NGP which showed a more basic and grounded approach as the game takes place four years prior to the F3600 Anti-Gravity Racing League, which makes it a direct prequel of sorts to the first Wipe

New Uncharted and Wipeout NGP Screens Looks Amazing (PS Vita Is Mini PS3 Confirmed)

Sony’s successor to the PSP is poised to make a huge impact at E3 next week and today we have a small taste of the impending shock & awe that the NGP i.e. the PlayStation Vita will create.  There’s no questioning that the NGP (let’s just call it that for now) is a powerful handheld as the direct game footage Sony showed running on the device in January was beyond belief and that it what we were seeing was merely early generation 1 software made the power of the system even more staggering.

The Final Name Of The NGP May Have Just Been Confirmed For Real This Time

When Sony unveiled their successor to the PlayStation Portable in late January, the company did something that was somewhat radically different: they didn’t unveil a name for the handheld.  In the over fifteen years Sony has been around in the hardware business they’ve established themselves to be a very straightforward company, some people would say it’s almost boring, when it comes to naming their consoles.  With the PlayStation consoles following a numbered moniker, a lot of people assumed that the new PSP would simply be dubbed PSP2.

New Augmented Reality Demo From Sony Offers A Glimpse At Potential NGP Applications

Along with the ever growing crazed of 3D based gaming, we’ve been witnessing a slow but steady increase in the realm of augmented reality gaming.  Even outside the world of video games we’ve seen augmented reality features almost become a common trend as toys and various ARG campaigns have utilized different variations of augmented reality tech and interaction.  Nintendo has made a nice splash with the augmented reality features of the Nintendo 3DS which not only can be used to enjoy small mini-games but also create

Is Another Wipeout Game On The Horizon?

There are some franchises that for some reason Sony doesn’t dish out as often as others.  We may see a new Killzone or Ratchet & Clank game pop up every two years, but when it comes to the futuristic racing action of Wipeout, we’re lucky to get at least one core release a generation.  But much to the surprise of longtime PlayStation fans, Sony unveiled or at least teased a new Wipeout game for their PSP successor when the device was unveiled in January.

Supposed Sony E3 2011 Details Come Forth But Are They Real Or Fake As Hell?

Leading up to the joyous event that is E3 there’s nothing better than enjoying some of the pre-E3 hype and rumors that come out.  Occasionally leading up to E3 we’re privy to finding out some unannounced details, some of which come from inside sources while others are accidentally revealed by the companies themselves (never forget the infamous PSPgo Qore incident of 2009). Usually we don’t get major E3 rumors as early as April, but a source has come forth that reportedly has the “inside” info on what Sony is prepping to unveil this year.

Is Katamari Damacy Ready For A Comeback?

The King of the Cosmos and his young son could be making a return as Namco Bandai could be prepping a new installment in the Katamari Damacy series.  Since first hitting the PS2 back in 2004, the Katamari Damacy series has won the hearts of gamers thanks to its unique style and gameplay that allowed people to literally go crazy as they roll up everything in sight – people, cats and cars included.  The last few Katamari games haven’t exactly captured the same spirit as the first two games, but who doesn’t want to see the King of the Cosmo return and once again give us some ridiculo

NGP Could Be Bound For Europe This Year

For once gamers around the world may not get shafted as Sony could be launching the NGP (their successor to the PSP) worldwide this year.  When Sony unveiled the NGP in early February, the company didn’t commit to a firm release date aside from commenting that the device would begin to roll out this year.  So when exactly will the NGP begin to roll out?  Well our friends in the United Kingdom may be excited to hear that the NGP could come as early as November.
