Overall Feeling:
Moon is just an amazing movie. It is flawless when it comes to execution and it has an amazing performance by Sam Rockwell and a very slick sense of style.
The Pros:
Sam Rockwell turns in one of the best performances of the year and his performance ranks up with the best to be featured in a sci-fi film. The specials effects are very effective and the design of Gerty and the station are exceptional. Amazing score by Clint Mansell. For his first go at a film director Duncan Jones gives us an extremely polished film and I can't wait to see what he does in the future.
The Cons:
Nothing really. It may just not be the type of movie for you based on what you like since it's a sci-fi drama. People may be slightly let down that certain story aspects aren't explored more but the vagueness of things and how things are handled works extremely well for the film.
Despite the releases of film like Star Trek there haven’t really been any down to earth sci-fi movies as of late. The majority of films tends to have sci-fi backdrops and feature unique designs and gadgets but hasn’t really had that true sci-fi vibe that some of the classic sci-fi films of the 70s and 80s had. It’s quite refreshing that Moon has come along, a film that despite its extremely small budget is one of the best sci-fi films to be released in the last twenty years.
