God of War Movie Casting Call

Movies based on video games tend to have a bad history for one reason or another.  While we may not have received a film creator that’s so delusional that he wants to radically change the origin of a video game property similar to Michael Bay making the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles into aliens, we simply have received video game films that aren't as epic as they could be.

Combine LittleBigPlanet 2 With Jurassic Park And This Is The Result [Video]

LittleBigPlanet 2 may be an “ancient” game at this point since it came out early last year, but the game is simply the gift that keeps on giving.  I don’t think anyone expected the game to produce as much goodness as it has done so far with people creating elaborate FPS mini-games or entirely original creations that attempt to tell a loose narrative similar to that of Journey.  The LBP2 community isn’t close to dying and I doubt such a thing will happen unless LBP3 is announced (which I have a feeling it won’t be) but in recent months not much has caught the eye of people.

Sony Computer Entertainment Finally Restructures Japanese Branch, The Last Guardian Still M.I.A.

For the past few years Sony Computer Entertainment has made some nice moves as a company by acquiring talent like Sucker Punch (Infamous) in addition to pushing 1st party games in new and interesting directions.  Back in the day this push for innovative 1st party games rang true as well, but this generation the shift went from Japan as being the primary source to Western developers being responsible for the more imaginative games Sony released.

Naughty Dog Shows Us The Infected In The Last of Us In A Unique Way

It shocked all of us back in December for good reason as Naughty Dog has done something different by deciding to launch a new franchise now instead of waiting for the next-gen PlayStation. Uncharted is basically video game royalty at this point but the prospect of receiving something as good if not better in the form of The Last of Us puts Naughty Dog in the unique territory to once and for all prove their dominance and talent as a developer.

SOCOM Developer Zipper Interactive Is Reportedly Being Laid To Rest i.e. They're Being Closed By Sony

I don’t quite know if we’re going to soon approach one of those weird periods in which companies are being slaughtered left and right similar to what happens in a horror movie, but word has surfaced that none other than Zipper Interactive is being shuttered. The company best known for the SOCOM franchise has been a key part of Sony’s development studios since the SOCOM series launched on the PS2 and that’s why Sony ultimately chose to acquire the company in 2006. But now it seems that Sony has opted to close Zipper and potentially end a few key PlayStation franchises in the process.

Sports Champions Developer Moving To Next-Gen PlayStation Project

Sony may be looking to have some motion based gaming from the get-go once their successor to the PlayStation 3 arrives.  For months we’ve only heard rumors as to what possible improvements we could see the PlayStation Move receive when Sony launches their next-gen PlayStation but of course no one has a definitive clue as everything is shrouded in shadows or double-talk rumors with no major backing to them.

LittleBigPlanet Karting Is Finally Revealed And It Looks Like Fun

Revealed last month in a quasi-official capacity, the revelation that LittleBigPlanet would receive a spin-off game in the form of LittleBigPlanet Karting was something that people didn’t know what to make of.  Would LBP Karting be a fun game or was this Sony’s first step in milking the LBP franchise now that Media Molecule seems to be moving on from the series to produce a next-gen PlayStation IP?  It was of course hard to imagine what LBP Karting would look like but we now have evidence which points to the game being simple LBP style fun.

Ready at Dawn (God of War PSP Developer) Reveals Future Plans

There may or may not be a God of War game on the PlayStation Vita but one thing that is for sure is that developer Ready at Dawn won’t be at the helm.  The studio responsible for the PSP entries in the God of War series has revealed that they will be skipping the God of War series for something much better: a game on an unannounced next-gen platform. I think it’s time to cue the next-gen PlayStation launch game alarm since RAD is rather chummy with Sony.

Resistance: Burning Skies Gets Serious In This New Video

In less than two months we’ll be receiving a brand new entry in the Resistance franchise but instead of appearing on the PS3 or the PSN we’ll receiving such goodness on the PlayStation Vita with Resistance: Burning Skies. I don’t know if the lack of overall excitement for Resistance: Burning Skies is just because some people are burned out on the Resistance franchise or simply don’t know that the game is coming out in May.

Original Pitch Video For Gravity Rush Is Rather Breathtaking

Most of the time when a video game is announced we really don’t learn much about its history at all or what the original vision may have been.  Every now and then we may receive a standard BTS video that shows talking heads discussing the project with a few pieces of early concept art but rarely do we ever hear let alone see what the initial vision or pitch was for a video game.
