New Sleeping Dogs DLC Set To Include New Island, Enemies, and Cutscenes

If fighting vampires and evil spirits via the last Sleeping Dogs DLC wasn’t your thing, then perhaps partaking in an Enter the Dragon style fighting tournament will be right up your alley.  The latest addition in the rather extensive DLC schedule of Sleeping Dogs will be a new island which will see everyone’s favorite undercover cop Wei Shen compete a deadly fight tournament off the coast of Hong Kong.

Interview With Talent Director Keith Arem (Call of Duty, Sleeping Dogs)

In video games an integral component of the experience is the voice acting since it can elevate things to unexpected levels of amazement or completely sink it.  Thankfully at this stage in the generation the industry is graced with incredible talent thanks to actors who not only deeply care about their performance but care about games in general.

Sleeping Dogs Goes The Horror Route With Nightmare in Northpoint DLC [Video]

It may be a common theme now since past endeavors have proved successful as Sleeping Dogs is the latest game to release a Halloween/horror themed DLC add-on.  Rockstar Games got the ball rolling two years ago with the release of RDR: Undead Nightmare and then Sucker Punch released the massively successfully Infamous 2 add-on Festival of Blood.  Now Square Enix and United Front Games are stepping up to the plate with their own brand of horror in Sleeping Dogs: Nightmare in Northpoint.

Halo: Forward Unto Dawn Interview With Actor Osric Chau

When it comes to a project whether it’s a film, TV show, or video game it doesn’t matter how epic the action is since it all boils down to two things: the story and the acting.  A good story can make an already good experience that much better and a good performance from an actor can help elevate the experience to new levels, especially if everything else is mediocre.

Stranglehold - The Prelude To Sleeping Dogs

With all the wonder and entertainment video games provide us they basically allow us to go on vacation more or less. I’m not necessarily talking about how we can mentally go on vacation for a couple of hours and escape into a world devoid of worries like paying bills or dealing with other such grown-up issues, but how they allow us to see places we might never be able to visit.

Sleeping Dogs [Review]

Overall Feeling:

Featuring a land we haven’t explored before and a mix-up in the core gameplay department, Sleeping Dogs easily delivers one of the best open-world experiences we’ve been provided with this generation.  Not molded after GTA nor  intent on capturing the over-the-top vibe of the Saints Row series, Sleeping Dog establishes its own identity which features engaging melee based combat, action oriented driving, and a narrative that feels fresh despite treading in familiar territory.

The Pros:

+ Melee based combat is thought out and has the perfect mix of direct fun while still being challenging.

+ Hong Kong truly feels alive and is designed in a way that’s both fun to explore and simply look at.

+ The story goes into familiar territory but is entertaining thanks to some good writing and amazing performances from the cast.

+ Gun combat doesn’t feel tacked on and provides some nice bursts of variety.

+ Driving doesn’t feel like a chore nor do the secondary missions that are strewn about Hong Kong.

The Cons:

- The upgrade system for the fighting moves is a bit odd in how it’s presented.

- Some of the last few story missions feel out of place despite being fun to play.

Sometimes we encounter a bit of an inner conflict during our life. Things such as a work dilemma or a relationship problem may make us think deeply about what we’ll want to do and ultimately what side we’ll land on. But such things are trivial when compared to a police officer working deep undercover. Obviously we likely won’t ever know what such a thing is like, but it can somewhat be ascertained that even amidst a den of thieves, thugs, and pure criminals there’s bound to be some friendships created or even an ounce of compassion here and there.

The High-Octane Driving Action Of Sleeping Dogs Is Highlighted In This New Video

The main source of action in Sleeping Dogs may be using a bit of old-school punching and kicking to either subdue perps or entirely put them out of commission.  Using some martial arts moves to defeat an enemy is fun but there’s something special about blowing up a car whilst riding a motorcycle and then seeing said car flip and turn before it ultimately goes boom. Opting to present a diverse gameplay experience, Sleeping Dogs is set to feature equal parts melee combat and driving action, the latter of which is on display in this new video.

Sleeping Dogs Hands-On [GDC 2012]

The streets of Hong Kong can be a beautiful place but at the same time there’s an underbelly that may not be entirely rosy and instead is violent and simply lawless.  There are two sides to everything and there are definitely two sides to a person, which is the case in Sleeping Dogs.

Sleeping Dogs Interview With Actor Brian Ho

In the world of cinema and even video games there are unsung heroes who despite their efforts may go relatively unnoticed to a degree.  For every car crash, intense martial arts sequence, or daring leap we see a character make it’s not a simple case of having said action perform by itself as there’s a person behind each of those things.

New Sleeping Dogs Trailer Is Full Of Drama and Action

Last month we were treated to the surprise reveal of Sleeping Dogs, the game formerly known as True Crime: Hong Kong. Still developed by United Front Games but under the guise of Square Enix, Sleeping Dogs’ return was eventful and thankfully didn’t result in immediate disappointment.  With a stunning live-action trailer serving as the introduction to the game, the actual gameplay didn’t disappoint either when that was finally shown as the mixture of established open-world action elements combined with new stylistic choices resulted in a marriage that we hardly see in games.
