Spec Ops: The Line

Spec Ops: The Line Developers Prep New Game, Tease Announcement Soon

The team behind the daring and rather intense action/drama Spec Ops: The Line are on the cusp of announcing their next project.  We’ve already known that Yager have been working on something once Spec Ops finally arrived at retail last Summer, but now we have a few more details on the project and a tease of things to come.

Spec Ops: The Line Developer Moving On To New Project

These days it can be game over for a developer almost immediately if a project doesn’t pick up tremendously and manage to sell five hundred thousand units or more. Even then the sheer budget of a game may be so much that a profit isn’t made on either the end of the publisher or developer which can result in bonuses not being handed out or massive cuts needed to be made.

Interview With Actor Bruce Boxleitner (Spec Ops: The Line, TRON: Uprising)

By now we’re all used to seeing performances out of actors that are either or amazing. Sure, there may be a dud here and there but the good stuff is what always manages to stand out since it can greatly enhance an already great experience.  Once in a while we’re truly lucky to see an actor stand to the occasion on a consistent basis no matter what the project is. Even better, it’s amazing to see an actor take a role and immediately own it to such a degree that it’s unimaginable to see someone else portraying the role.

Spec Ops: The Line [Review]

Overall Feeling:

A complete surprise on nearly every front, Spec Ops: The Line manages to keep the entertainment factor high while delivering a game with a surprisingly deep message.  Perfectly balanced in the gameplay department with battles that require thought, strategy, and actual aiming skills, gamers looking for a competent action game will find just that plus more in the game as the pacing is perfect and the battles are ever intense. Spec Ops: The Line is a game that is impactful and is simply effective in showing that war can be a hellish experience that can break even the most skilled soldiers.

The Pros:

+ Story is beyond good in how it makes players think about their actions and ultimately what the casualty of war is.

+ Combat is handled in a smart way with enemy encounters that are challenging and consistently intense.

+ The lighting adds a tremendous amount of mood to the game and presents some breathtaking visuals.

+ We may have yet another game starring Nolan North, but the voice acting is excellent as the main cast delivers stunning performances, especially that of Bruce Boxleitner as Konrad.

+ Dubai looks beautiful and doesn’t feel too gamey in how it was adapted for a video game.

The Cons:

- Multiplayer is just kind of there and doesn’t feel like it’ll have a long-term community.

- Visuals look less than optimized in a few areas as there’s a lot of Unreal Engine 3 texture loading and pop-up.

ShogunGamer.com Rating :

Despite being glamorized for years in film, TV, and even literature, war is ultimately a hellish experience that is devoid of any true glory or things that can make someone feel proud. Now that’s not to take away from the valor that soldiers have who are fighting overseas, but I think there’s a slight disconnect when people imagine what war truly is. Up until now we haven’t seen too many games depict war for the hellish experience that it is but Spec Ops: The Line does a wonderful job at balancing the reality of the situation while giving gamers something to sink their teeth into.

Will Violence In Video Games Ever Have An Impact?

The one ever brilliant thing about the video game industry is that as the business has thrived over the years the tastes of the gaming audience have matured.  Compared to other types of entertainment such as films or even music, most gamers have stuck with games their entire lives, starting out with stuff like Zelda and Mario and then moving on to Tomb Raider, Grand Theft Auto, and Uncharted.

New Spec Ops: The Line Trailer Has More Gritty War Action

War is hell and this new trailer for Spec Ops: The Line shows us that while finally channeling a mood similar to Apocalypse Now with a small dash of EXTREME blow-em up modern warfare gameplay.  It still surprises me that not a lot of hype has been raised for Spec Ops: The Line but at this point I guess all 2K Games can do is cross their fingers and hope for the best seeing as how the game is finally coming out on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC in late June.

Spec Ops: The Line Trailer Features Lots Of Action and Sand

I had originally meant to post this yesterday, but given the hassle of moving into a new apartment and having limited internet access I apologize in my delay in doing a write up for this new Spec Ops: The Line trailer. At this point I don’t find myself doing too many posts about trailers, unless they’re god tier quality, but I did find this trailer to be a bit more cohesive than the slightly abstract ones we’ve received in the past and in general it seems like the gaming populace has no clue that this game is coming out.

New Spec Ops: The Line Trailer Takes Us On A Journey Through Dubai

Things may be going slow in the game biz, more so this week since it’s Thanksgiving in the U.S., but 2K Games has brought the goods with a new trailer for Spec Ops: The Line.  Opting to forgo releasing a new trailer at the Spike Video Game Awards next month, we finally have an updated look at the Middle East based action of Spec Ops as well as what sort of attitude it’ll have now due to being kicked around in development for the past two years.

2K Games Reveals Minimal Yet Enticing Info On Spec Ops: The Line

2K Games has stayed incredibly silent about the development of Spec Ops: The Line that a lot of people have automatically assumed the game has succumbed to being the latest high-profile game to undergo development woes.  Something certainly has been amiss with Spec Ops since staff members have left and an entire year has gone by with no major media reveals or any development updates.

Another look at Spec Ops: The Line

One of the biggest surprises at the Spike VGA’s last month was the reveal of 2K’s new action game Spec Ops: The Line. From the amazing location of a decimated Dubai to the background music being a Bjork song Spec Ops immediately became a game that many are keeping a close eye on.
