For years there has been a struggle for development houses to create unique and interesting video games out of movie plots. Besides a small number of entertaining (yet still flawed) games based on major motion pictures, the stone carving states that you will not succeed.

A major Hollywood studio is trying to resurrect the Halo film

Movies based on video games usually tend to be a horrible thing but a good portion of gamers have wanted one thing: a Halo movie.  At one point a film based on Halo was literally ready to go with director Neill Blomkamp (District 9) set to make his feature film debut.  But then some last minute red tape between Fox and Universal (the co-distributors/financers of the film) snagged production up and everyone was sent home.

When it comes to film making Steven Spielberg is one of the best in the business. With an array of classics such as Jaws, Close Encounters, and Jurassic Park, the man clearly knows what he’s doing.  But when it comes to the world of video games his ventures haven’t been that successful. It’s not that Spielberg’s knack for creating unique stories and vistas hasn’t translated well into game concepts but for some reason or another they just haven’t seen the light of day yet.

The A.I. game that could've been (it looks like another crap movie game)

Ok, so a few years ago Steven Spielberg released the film “A.I.” starring that boy from “The Sixth Sense.” Despite being a bit long and depressing as hell at the end “A.I.” was a pretty solid film that had amazing visuals from ILM and Stan Winston Studios and it tackled an interesting subject.  What some may not know, or at least remember depending on how long you’ve been following games, is that Microsoft was developing a plethora of games based on the film none of which saw the light of day since the movie was me

Steven Spielberg set to produce and possibly direct a pirate movie

After the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean series which made pirates cool thanks to the acting of Johnny Depp and amazing special effects it looks like acclaimed director Steven Spielberg is ready to set sail with his own pirate movie. (Lame line of the week part 2.)
