PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Receives Two New Characters + New Stage [Video]

The cast of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale now has +2 as Sony has announced two additional characters that will be joining the game.  Announced last night during Sony’s special EVO event, PlayStation All-Stars will now see the tyrannical madman that is Heihachi Mishima join the cast in addition to the ever cute quasi PlayStation mascot that is Toro.

Tekken Receiving Another Movie, Will Third Time Be The Charm?

Just like Mortal Kombat, the Tekken franchise has enough interesting characters and soap opera laden plot strings that adapting the game into a movie should be a relatively easy feat.  Throw in a few thrilling fight scenes, a plot to drive said fight scenes to happen, and maybe one or two scantily clad women to please the younger male demographic and you should have a winner on your hands.

Tekken: Blood Vengeance [Movie Review]

Overall Feeling:

I don’t exactly know what caused such a thing to happen, but Tekken: Blood Vengeance doesn’t break the curse of mediocre video games movies.  The film definitely receives some good marks for staying true to the design and general look of Tekken, but the horrible story which is somewhat hard to follow and simply pointless along with the terrible dialogue makes the film tough to watch. The fight scenes are serviceable but ultimately aren’t enough to carry the film past a point where it won’t be grouped in with Dead or Alive, Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat: Annihilation in the bad video game movie department.

The Pros:

+ The fight scenes were generally well done minus the very last battle.
+ Aside from a few ugly background models and weird skin textures, the visuals for the movie were pretty outstanding even if it didn’t reach the Square Enix benchmark.
+ Some of the bad moments are so bad that they in turn become funny which present some nice riff opportunities.

The Cons:

- The story is absolute nonsense even by Tekken standards.
- Tonally the film is all over the place and never really establishes a foothold of what it’s trying to be.
- I really don’t know what happened, but the voice acting is either bad or in some cases doesn't fit the character as well as it should.
- Having only eight Tekken characters appear in the film with no major cameos outside of one is incredibly disappointing.
- No Yoshimitsu appearance sucks big time.

There are some video game franchises out there that would work perfectly when adapted to become a movie to the point where it’s almost painful when it doesn’t happen.  Properties like Metal Gear Solid, Devil May Cry and Halo would make for perfect films but for some reason despite having the film rights snatched up by film studios/production companies, nothing has come to fruition and various projects are simply in the ever occupied development hell.  But every now and then we get lucky and see a video game make the leap to the big screen in some form, whether it’s in live-action

Anime Art Styles + Tekken + Provocative Poses = Possibily Awesome Tekken Statues

Tekken may be one of the most popular and well known video game franchises in the world, but for some reason its multi-media reach just hasn’t quite been what it could be.  It’s only just now after nearly sixteen years that we’re possibly getting a good Tekken movie with the forthcoming release of Tekken: Blood Vengeance and we’re also finally getting proper Tekken figures/statues as well.

Tekken Wii U Is All About Humiliation [E3 2011]

Almost a week later and I’m still trying to wrap my head around Nintendo’s E3 press conference and the newly announced Wii U.  Name aside (its dumb part 2), I’m still trying to gauge if the Wii U has potential or if it’s literally going to be a Wii HD with another gimmick tacked on.  I’m not making my final judgment on the Wii U just yet since we haven’t seen a single full-on game in action just yet, but I’m not sure if tapping a screen to throw ninja stars is something I’ll immediately want to experience.

Namco Bandai Comes To Their Senses, Announces A CG Tekken Movie

After a lot of missteps and money wasted down the drain, most video game companies finally realize what people want out of a video game movie: a pure CG film.  Seeing a CG adaptation of a video game movie may be akin to watching a non-playable version of the game, but it does offer a level of quality that often isn’t matched in the many live-action counterparts that are released over the years.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Shows How To Beat People Up In These New Screens

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 has been making the rounds lately with a series of cool videos, screens and details – all of which has provided some nice insight on the project.  Tekken Tag 2 may still seem like one of those games in which nothing major is being added, but there are a bevy of new improvements and additions like combo tag moves and the return of character based customizable costumes/accessories.  One other thing about Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is that the game looks rather pretty, as exemplified by these new screens.

More Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Screens Have Been Bestowed Upon Us

Tekken Director/Producer Katsuhiro Harada has been keeping himself busy on Twitter as of late.  After releasing a brand spanking new Tekken Tag Tournament 2 trailer in December as a Christmas present, Harada has now released some new screens from the 2nd installment of Tekken’s tag based exploits.

New Tekken Tag Tournament 2 screens are a visual knock-out + Yoshimitsu's new design rocks

Slowly but ever so steadily we’ve gotten more info and media for Tekken Tag Tournament 2. The fact that we’re getting another tag based entry in the Tekken series is rather surprising as the original Tekken Tag was a PS2 launch game – which you know was back in the day when some of you were only a four year-old gamer.

Namco Bandai announces a new Tekken game

I don’t know what spurred this, but now is an absolutely blissful time to be a fan of fighting games.  With stuff like Super Street Fighter IV, Mortal Kombat 9, and the double whammy of Street Fighter vs. Tekken and Tekken vs.
