Six Months Later: Journey

There are games within the industry that are quickly forgotten and there are others that remain within our memories forever.  It’s somewhat expected for a few games to either go under the radar or quickly become a vague remnant within the various memories engrained into our minds, but what I find impressive is when we see a game that has a steady amount of hype only to see it be released and ultimately garner the full praise it deserves.

Journey Collector's Edition Is Officially Announced [Video]

Earlier this year gamers were taken aback by Journey as it proved that video games can go in wildly unexpected directions yet still have that special something that makes for an entertaining experience.  Thankfully devoid of any vapid or condescending artistic touches that plague other games trying to be different or to make a point, Journey was thankfully greeted with open arms as it became one of the fastest selling PSN games of all time.

Thatgamecompany (Flower, Journey) Co-Founder Departs

In a rare case of actual shocking news, Thatgamecompany co-founder Kellee Santiago has announced that she will be departing the company to pursue other endeavors.  Revealed via Gamasutra, Kellee isn’t leaving Thatgamecompany out of spite or creative differences but instead to try other things out and I assume in the process expand the notions that people have about games.

Journey Is Finally Dated and Priced For North America

To further add to the plethora of games coming out next month which could put gamers in an absolute craze, Sony has announced that the long-awaited experience that is Journey will be finally released.  Originally delayed from a late 2011 release, Journey is the latest project from thatgamecompany, the acclaimed studio that also brought us flow and Flower this generation.

New Journey Video Confirms Two Things: The Game Is Beautiful and The Music Is Amazing

2012 may have only just begun, but I couldn’t think of a better way to kick things off than with a new look at Journey.  The latest PSN exclusive to come via developer thatgamecompany, Journey looks to be one of those games that is so unique and breathtaking that people will probably have no clue what’s going on at first but at the same time become immediately enthralled by it.

A Release Window Is Finally Given For Journey (Prepare For Slight Disappointment)

I have some sad news for gamers who love unique experiences on the PlayStation:  the PSN bound game Journey won’t be coming out until Spring 2012.  The next game from acclaimed developer thatgamecompany, Journey has received a lot of attention as of late thanks to the simply gorgeous videos and screens that have been released.  Sony and thatgamecompany never gave a firm release date for Journey, but when the game received a closed beta in July many assumed the game would be a lock for a late 2011 release, but alas we’ll have to wait until 2012.

New Journey trailer and screens are once again breathtaking

A title that hasn’t gotten enough hype yet is Journey, the latest PSN game from thatgamecompany, the acclaimed studio behind flow and Flower.  Journey got a somewhat stealth announcement during E3 but then some interest was raised late last year when some new screens were finally released.  But even viewing some beautiful imagery wasn’t enough for gamers as we all wanted to see the game in motion.

Amazing new concept art from Journey, the new PSN game from the Flower developers

Some PS3 gamers may not know about it, but the development team behind flow and Flower has a new PSN game in the works. Unveiled in a low key announcement during E3, thatgamecompany’s latest game is titled Journey, and if the concept is anything to go by, gamers will truly go on a journey unlike any other.
