Vincent Proce

Interview With Day 1 Studios Art Director Vincent Proce

The video game industry has loads of talent out there ranging from animators, programmers, and Creative Directors but in a way the most integral aspect of games comes from a field that has been part of our culture for centuries: the talent found in artists.

There’s no doubt that a video game can look good when it’s pushing out character models loaded with an insane number of polygons and half a dozen special rendering techniques being used concurrently, but the true foundation of a game rests in the art that’s devised by folks such as Vincent Proce.

Late last year some amazing concept art from a Mortal Kombat reboot pitch was released.  The art made by former Midway Chicago employee Vincent Proce gave us what we’ve been wanting: a dark version of MK.  Proce’s art was detailed, original and simply awesome.  We were also lucky enough to get some insight on Proce’s art and his time at Midway in an exclusive interview.

Exclusive interview with Vincent Proce, the genius behind the Mortal Kombat reboot art

Awhile back ago we were graced with some incredible concert art for a Mortal Kombat reboot pitch that was made by Midway artist Vincent Proce.  For some unfortunate reason Midway decided to pass on Vincent’s pitch which is a great injustice as it was the type of reboot MK fans are waiting for.

Vincent was nice enough to take some time out of his schedule to discuss his MK concept art, Mortal Kombat and what it was like working at Midway.
