Begin The Yakuza Tale All Over Again In Yakuza 1 & 2 HD Edition [Video]

It’s time to once again roam the streets of Kamurocho and experience the tale of redemption as a Japanese gangster learns that there’s more to life than just beating the crap out of people. Ok, so beating people up whilst wearing a $2,000 suit may be fun once in a while, but there’s certainly more to life than just that.  As if a new Yakuza game wasn’t good enough already, Sega has announced that they’re bringing both Yakuza 1 & 2 to the PS3 in the form of a HD upgrade title.

Team Yakuza's Toshihiro Nagoshi Receives A New Position Within Sega

Good news for fans of the Yakuza series and Binary Domain as Team Yakuza Head Toshihiro Nagoshi has been given a promotion within Sega. The Golden God behind the Yakuza series has maintained a nice position within Sega since the early 1990s having worked on games such as Virtua Racing and Super Monkey Ball before being the go-to man for Japanese games with a slight Western flair, but now he could be spreading his influence across Sega in a bigger fashion thanks to his new position at the company.

Binary Domain Receives A Bonus Guest Spot From The Yakuza Franchise

We haven’t seen too much of Sega’s futuristic shooter Binary Domain since it appeared at the Tokyo Game Show, but Sega and Team Yakuza have revealed a cool bonus of sorts.  Since Team Yakuza holds the Yakuza franchise close to their hearts, hence the name of the damn studio, gamers will be able to assume the role of Yakuza protagonist Kazuma Kiryu as he takes to the streets of a futuristic and robot infested Tokyo in Binary Domain.

Drama and Cage Fighting Is Front and Center In This Premier Trailer For Yakuza: Black Panther 2

Right on the heels of Sega announcing the game, the premier trailer for Yakuza: Black Panther 2 has been bestowed upon gamers who like a bit of Japanese gangster action in their lives.  Coming somewhat unexpectedly to the PSP next year (where is my PS Vita love at?), Black Panther 2 will be a direct follow-up to the first Black Panther as Ukyo Tatsuya  is returning and the game still boasts the same graphic novel/manga approach for its narrative presentation.

The Yakuza Franchise Will Live On In Two Major New Projects

Sega and Toshihiro Nagoshi, the man I affectionately refer to as the Golden God of the gaming biz, took the stage in Japan a few hours ago to make a big announcement: we’re getting more Yakuza games.  Well to be honest I shouldn’t make a wide proclamation saying that gamers across the world are getting more Yakuza games as that sadly may not be the case.  But those lucky gamers in Japan will receive some additional chapters in the long running Yakuza series, known as Ryu Ga Gotoku in Japan, and if we’re l

Latest Binary Domain Trailer Shows Cool Action But Sadly No Cyborg Mommies

Earlier this year the team behind Sega’s Yakuza franchise unveiled their latest project, which was about as far off as you can get compared to the stylized realism found in the Yakuza games.  With a plot that takes place in a future in which people are at war with robots which have feelings and emotions, Binary Domain kind of left people underwhelmed a bit.  The pedigree of the Yakuza team and project lead Toshihiro Nagoshi certainly had people interested in the project, but since the prem

Yakuza: Of the End [Preview]

There are a lot of things that I like in the world, two of which are zombies and the Japanese culture.  Yes, it’s a bit stereotypical for someone who likes video games to adore the land of the rising sun, but I just dig Japan as a whole in all its stylish and often zany glory.

PlayStation Meeting 2011: Sony Announces PlayStation Suite And PSP2!

Sony held their much hyped about PlayStation Meeting in Japan today/tonight and as expected the event had several surprises in store for us.  Once SCE President/CEO Kaz Hirai took the stage things went into the basic rundown of what Sony is trying to achieve as a company along with a few specific bullet point achievements that the PS3 has made so far.  Kaz then proceeded to go into announcement mode with the reveal of PlayStation Suite.  For the past four months we’ve seen the leaked tech specs, images and videos for the Xperia Play, the device that was once dubbed the PlaySt

Yakuza: Of the End premier trailer has zombies, monsters and more (It's awesome!)

I just love how Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi and his team at Sega have officially said “screw it” in a way and are now doing whatever the hell they want with the Yakuza franchise.  The last two Yakuza games have garnered praise, but some folks complained or either expressed their worry about the future of the franchise as they feared future games would merely feature minimal improvements and changes.

Hands-on with Yakuza PSP (Black Panther) [Video]

Earlier today, Sega released the Japanese demo for Black Panther, the debut game of the Yakuza franchise on the PSP. Being a fan of the Yakuza franchise and having an affinity for slightly over-the-top Japanese games I of course downloaded the demo as soon as I could.  After spending a good amount of time with the demo, I think Sega and the Yakuza team should be proud of their debut effort on Sony’s handheld.
