THQ Montreal's First Project Is Still Alive For Now

Even though the company has been consolidated heavily in the past year, THQ still isn’t out of the red just yet.  The company may not have had a bad financial quarter, but the somewhat middling sales of Darksiders 2 hasn’t exactly given the studio the must needed boost it needs.  The future of THQ as a major games developer is still up in the air, though fans can rest assured knowing that the game from THQ Montreal and former Assassin’s Creed lead Patrice Desilets is still moving forward.

Latest Remember Me Video Showcases Some Rather Original Combat Mechanics

The forthcoming sci-fi action game Remember Me, which has no connection to the romance drama starring the dreamy R-Pat, has received it’s second public showing since being unveiled at Gamescom last month.  Developed by the Paris based Dontnod, Remember Me received some buzz but it was also accused or at least commented on by gamers that the game bared a striking resemblance to other games; the only exception being that it took place in an elaborate sci-fi world.

A Cabin in the Woods Video Game Made By Valve Was Almost A Thing

Video games based upon movies usually result in experiences that are simply depressing, but what if we were to see a game based upon a film as part of DLC for an ever popular gaming franchise? Well such a thing was close to becoming a reality but sadly was canned at the last second due to the nagging issue of a studio going bankrupt.

Akaniero: Demon Hunters, The Next Game From American McGee, Is Finally Revealed

When it was announced that developer American McGee and his studio Spicy Horse would be focusing on mobile/browser games after the release of Alice: Madness Returns I was beyond bummed out. I know that as a game developer American has his fair share of fans and haters, but his general vision along with that of the Spicy Horse team deserved to be seen on the HD consoles.

Terraria Is Taking It's Mix of Side-Scrolling and Block Building To The PSN/XBLA

Following in the steps of the recent Minecraft XBLA port which did gangbusters at retail, the hit indie adventure/block building game Terraria is also receiving a port. Announced today, Terraria will be arriving on both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade in early 2013.  Released on the PC in 2011, Terraria captivated gamers thanks to its mixture of side-scrolling exploration and the ability to create items which in turn provided near endless content thanks to the substantial user community.

FireFall Hands-on [PAX Prime 2012]

If you haven’t heard of Red 5’s FireFall at this point… well it basically means that you’re not a convention goer. They’ve consistently had the largest booth at every consumer show I’ve been to in the last couple of years. After a little investigative digging I was able to find that it’s because their benefactor is none other than The9, which, previously, owned the exclusive rights to World of Warcraft in Japan.

The Grittiness Of The Old West Returns In Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

This may not be a complete surprise since the previous teases indicated as such, but Ubisoft and Techland have announced yet another installment in the Call of Juarez series. After receiving teases of an Ubi/Techland announcement earlier this week gamers and those in the “esteemed” games press put two and two together to deduct that another Call of Juarez was on the cards and today we have our first look at the title.

The Adventure Continues: Half Minute Hero Bound For Steam/Playism

Gamers who enjoy playing addicting games that are stylish to boot should be pleased to hear that Half Minute Hero is making its long awaited debut on the PC.  After wowing gamers on the PSP and XBLA with its combination of quick adventure based RPG combat in which the clock was always ticking away, Half Minute Hero will finally be available to those who prefer the comfort a PC gives them.

Assassin's Creed III Preview [PAX Prime 2012]

Hopefully by now you’ve had an opportunity to peruse our awards from PAX Prime 2012. If you haven’t, take a quick peek, because I’m about to go into full-on fanboy mode for our Best of Show winner: Assassin’s Creed III.

Far Cry 3 Hands-on [PAX Prime 2012]

Here’s the problem I have with the Far Cry series, as a whole: It demos really, really well. Every single time they put a demo out there, and I go hands-on for the first time, I find myself absolutely blown away. The problem being that the games themselves, when you get that full-version game you’re so excited for, always seem to drop the ball somehow.
