Red Bull Proving Grounds Comes to Vancouver

This past weekend the FGC eSports scene came down to Vancouver to find the best of the best in the GVRD, it was an open tournament that provided those in the area the opportunity to show off what Vancouver has to offer eSports and provide a fun environment for fans of the fighting genre to hang out, meet up with friends old and new and show off what they can do.

Square Enix Vancouver Showcase

This past week we had the opportunity to head down to a local event put on by the PR team behind all Square Enix’s recent and upcoming releases. We only had a short time to play through everything (2 hours) but we went hands-on with as much as humanly possible!

Below are some shots of the event, along with thoughts (previews) of the titles that were available to us and we had the most time (and fun!) with:

Flame x Blaze (MOBA)

Battleborn [X-15 Hands On]

I tossed my battle axe across the map, all while bursting forward with my shield out in front and my four comrades giving covering fire from behind. This was just the first minute of Gearbox Software's Battleborn.

At X-15, Gearbox had a playable demo of one of their co-op campaign mode in Battleborn. Ten characters were available to choose, all vibrant and unique. I could immediately associate the "hero shooter" with Borderlands just through the personality on the character screen.

What I wanted to see at E3 2015

It's no secret that E3 2015 was absolutely fantastic for gamers. The big names had some bombs to drop and the real winners were us the gamers. To say that it's going to be a very expensive Holiday this year is a massive understatement. But there were some things that stood out for me, a few things that I wanted to see at E3 that weren't shown or mentioned.

Fallout 4 – Best. Fallout. Ever.

We were not left in the lurch when Bethesda unrolled all the cool new features in their next iteration.

Oh my God, you guys. That was awesome, wasn't it? It was just phenomenal. I'm legit having trouble pacing myself, because even looking down on my caringly crafted notes so I could talk about everything in cohesive order, I just want to regurgitate fangirl rainbows all over my screen.

BE3: The Bethesda Show

Oh, Bethesda. My faith in you is well-placed.

If you were able to catch the conference last night then you were probably as slippery and wet from salivating as I was. We weren't given a slew of games to look forward to over the next year like with other conferences, but we were given less a buffet and more tapas: smaller morsels, but oh god they're so delicious. Maybe I should stop talking while I'm waiting for dinner.

Radial Dialogue - Episode 13 - YouTube vs. Twitch

Hopefully by now you've all had a chance to look at the Mario Party 10 review that was posted up earlier this week, if not (or if you wanted to see it in operation live) we played through a Bowser Party tonight on Radial Dialogue! Jen played out the role of King Koopa and well... it was interesting, to say the least.

Geralt Gains a Dynamic Beard in Witcher 3

I'm a huge fan of games that pay attention to the small details. More often than not a game will get some bonus points, and even make me overlook other flaws, if they get the little things right. A prime example would be the Amazing Spider-man game, who took the time to animate web-cartridge reloads on Spider-man. It was a small touch that made the nerd in me crazy excited!

Radial Dialogue - Episode 11 - Twitch, Security and Skin

Welcome, fans! There’s plenty of talk and rage on the most recent episodes as Jen and I dig through a couple of stories that we had things to say about. Twitch was attacked recently, causing everyone to need a change of their passwords… good thing they don’t store your credit card information!

Quipbox is Jackbox Games' Kickstarter Project

Every second week or so, I host a board-game night at my house. This has served as an excuse for me, personally, to break out of the video game routine and try something a little different. However, after the release of the Jackbox Party Pack (a collection of games from YDKJ makers Jackbox) it seems all anyone wants to play anymore is Drawful.
