I'm not sure if perhaps Corey wanted to do an artcle about this or merely leave it for forum discussion.
Now I'm not going to lie: I'm a Sony fanboy. I just prefer the way Sony as a company does things in terms of it's business management, products and overall company vibe. I try to defend Sony when I can or at least make people see that things aren't as negative as they are but in this case I find it a bit hard to fully defend this method.
Yes, Sony charging a fee to developers makes sense in a way but given how things are with companies firing people and closing whole studios down the fact that devs will have to keep this fee in mind when they work on the budget is going to be an issue at some point. And having this fee possibly detract devs from putting up content and having consumers be the victim of this sucks. So will we see Sony start charing users to play online to try to cover some of these charges?
Damn, first ive heard this.Times like these right now are crazy in terms of economic.Heres to something being worked on this issue.
Got to pay for those servers some how. It just depends on what you think is better, charging the people that put up the content or charging the people that use it.

Yup! As a consumer, I am in total favour of not paying AHHAHA. Hopefully this will encourage consumers to download more on the PSN and make it well worth the cost.
Hey its me from GS forums,
This dosnt bother me at all, for the fact im not paying a cent.
Companies should pay for this, its all advertising their product, and sony has to get money from someone, we should all say thank you sony for the fact its not us...(uhhmh uhhhmmm XBOX LIVE uhhmm uuhmh)
First I've heard of this. But I guess Sony has to make money somehow. And being a bit biased, I'd prefer the Developers paying 16 cents per GB rather the consumer
Well if you think about it you're paying someone 16 cents to play their game. 16 cents an impression is a pretty low cost for advertisement. Yes if you have a ton of downloads this will mean that you pay a lot when it all adds up, but it also means you probably have a very popular game.
It'll be interesting to see what happens though because Sony has had some great innovative games on the PSN. Hopefully this won't stop new / small developers from choosing the platform.

This technically happened back in October so I guess we'll leave it here for discussion. This is the first I had heard of it though.
I'm a little surprised it took DEVs this long to complain about this. Also, I'm trying to confirm it but when I worked at EA I was under the impression that all of our XBOX live accounts were PAID FOR by EA. I remember there being problems with us having the budget to give every single tester the top end XBL account with unlimited credits. Perhaps this has changed since I worked there for the 360 launch and do not anymore.
