Dont get too excited, nothing special with this firmware, but from what i read the it fixes some playback stuff and the trophies show up faster, oh well.
Yes the trophy loading is in fact much faster, check it out!
That's nice, because it took damn near forever in the past. Downloading it now, thanks for the heads up
DL yesterday along with the Home update. Will check out the Trophies.
Amazingly I'm not even logged on & I'm downloading the update. This has been the only way I've been able to download updates lately. I try about 7-8 times, lose connection then it updates really really slow, oh well at least it's updating
It's just one of those updates that was to fix, no new features, no big deal.
Does anyone know (roughly) how long it would take to update a new Ps3 with all the patches?
Uhmmm, pretty long, i would say just turn it on, do the updates, and when u do tell the PS3 to shut down when the update is over, but while its updating i suggest you do something that will keep you busy for 1-3 hours.
That doesn't sound too bad, cheers.
It depends on how old / new the PS3 is. If its recently assembled it will have a lot of the updates in it already. But yeah, i would budget a solid 1-3 hours as Dan said depending on how fast your Internet connection is and where you are located. Best case scenario you can get them done in under an hour. If the server isn't really busy the updates download really fast for me. usually download and install each one in about 10 minuets on a good day. This recent patch took me over an hour just to download for some reason, so it's hard to say.
Well I've gone for the 80Gb model (EU) so it should have the patches as of '08, right?
You shouldn't have too many to download. But a good way to tell is to just login and check out your system settings. It will tell you what firmware you have. Also, i believe that unless its a MAJOR update like 1.5 -> 2.76 you can just download one patch. So if you have like 2.3 firmware and have to download 2.76, I think you can just download one update. I'm not 100% sure but I remember only having to install one update when I got my MGS4 bundle long after they were released. My firmware was pretty far behind when i first logged on. I don't remember a very long update time.
Cool. Well, either way it won't matter even if there's a long download time involved - I can just leave it on and go out or something. Thanks for the info Corey.
No prob! once you're on the PSN feel free to add me up if you have other questions!
PSN ID: C4-Swift
Cheers, will do.
If you don't want to, or it doesn't always work. You can download the patches online from your computer and install them on your PS3 via a USB drive. I've had to do that sometimes and my internet here at home isn't the best all the time.
Cheers for the tip. Hopefully I won't need to but it's good to have a back-up plan.
Oh man I totally forgot about that! I'm so doing that next time it's taking forever to download! thanks for the reminder Schumi!
No problem guys! I prefer using a hard connection but my current situation (if i want to play my PS3 at all) is to use the wireless.

I forgot about that too. I wish you could do that with the game updates. Everytime I update there's an update for my PS3 or any games I lose my connection at least 8 times for I'm able to download it & the funny thing is I'll be logged off I know I sound like a broken record but it's really frustrating

hahaha I was wondering what this fixed. I had to download it last night and it was SOOOOO SLOW!. Jeez. Took me like 45 min to download this patch. Maybe server was just really busy.
