[UPDATE] I finally got a new PS3, 120 GB Slim. I hope to play as soon
as I can, but school has me busy so I'm not going on a marathon just
yet.
One question: If a PS3 gets a YLoD, does the hard drive that
was inside it gets damaged too? Marcos says that he lost all of his game
saves, but I can't see how that's possible if you only have to take
your hard drive out.
Nevermind. Forgot you had to format the HDD when putting it into a new PS3. Oh, how lucky I was that I was upgrading by that time. Muahahahahahaha!
XD
That's what I was kind of thinking. Might want to do some research to see if anyone else has tried it, so you don't be a guinea pig and bust your new PS3 if that is a possibility.
I wont trust putting anything from a busted machine into a new machine.
Are you guys kidding me? The HDD that was inside was my new 320 GB one. It's 7200 RPM, just in case you've heard bad things about it.
Ugh...
Google time.

This is bullshit, everywere in my area is out of PS3's.Ive been to over 20 stores and nothing. If i dont get it before God of War 3 so i can play it day one im going to snap a puppy's head in front of a bunch of kids.
Ya it's like the PS3 is the new Wii with it being sold out everywhere. Try online.
i dont want to try online since retail has some good insurance and cheap.
Gotcha. Maybe buy online from a retail store? They should, hopefully still offer the insurance as if you bought it from in store the only thing is you'll have to pay a bit more because of shipping. Unless they have an in-store pick up option like Best Buy.

well if he walked into a Best Buy and cant get it then he is not going to have any luck with the in-store pick-up since its based on the store's stock.
and if you start snapping puppies necks then make sure you record the audio of that. I love to hear the snapping and then the crying from those kids. Then lick the tears that stream from their eyes to taste what fear is like.
Ya I know, I was using it as an example.
And lol, don't forget kittens too!

u leave kitties out of this!
As much as i would've liked to snap puppies necks in front of kids it wont happen as last week i found a PS3 at Toysrus.3 year insurance, now i can unleash vengeance Kratos style.
Hate to bring up bad memories but I also hate to make new threads when the subject has already been discussed.
After 5 years 1 month & 1 week, my PS3 died. I'm not surprised though, about 6 months ago, she started to sound as loud as the launch 360s. I blame myself for the loss. I logged into Home, she must have sensed I was in danger & sacrificed herself. I'm going to try to bring her back but in case I can't, it was a good run girl, I love you. Guess I'll be playing my games in the bedroom, that'll make the Mrs. happy.
Shitty deal JD, good to see you're in good spirits about it(and that you have a backup system) Happy Gaming and Happy Holidays
I feel bad for the people that got a YLoD in their Slim PS3's. That's so not supposed to happen. I hope I won't be one of them. *crosses fingers*
NOOOOOOO! Shitty JD! Sorry to hear buddy! Gotta admit though thats some good life! 5 years with no problems (and judging by your gamer score, some pretty heavy usage) isnt too bad in this day and age. Still sucks though! I definitely feel your pain.
I have had mine almost as long, and (Please dont jinx this Brad) its still running amazingly. I run the crap out of it to. Use it for my main media device, and as a gaming support for two heavy use gamers (my brother and I).
Has anybody ever used the self clean/fan test option?
I was using it to blow out dust from my machine once every few months, and then found an article online that it wasnt good for the system. Wondering if anyone had any experience with this. Want to do it again cause its been awhile, and last time the amount of dust it kicked out was epic, but worrying about blowing my machine.
Thanks for the support guys.
@ninjazz. I used to my handi vac to clean the vents, that's about it. I used a can of air once to blow the dust out but figured the dust was just getting deeper into the system. I plan on fixing it soon (er or later) & when I take it apart I'll give it a throurgh cleaning.
Still got mine, once I have the necessary funds im going to fix it.Best of luck in yours JD.
Hopefully you can get it fixed soon Jedi. I still haven't gotten around to trying to fix mine.
