TL;DR - Feb 29 - Baldur's Gate, Assassin's Creed, Sim City 5

Does it seem like TL;DR is up a little early tonight? Fair point, it is, but that’s because I wasn’t going to leave you in the lurch just because I’ve got business to attend later tonight! Today’s TL;DR features a brief discussion about a potential Sim City 5 announcement, a potential Baldur’s Gate return, and a tease from Ubisoft. You could almost call this a ‘themed episode’!

The News:

Sim City 5 TBA(nnounced):

Childern of the 90s and Sim-fans in general will be pretty excited today to hear that it looks like the game that popularized the genre, Sim City, is planning a return for 2013. Apparently there’s going to be an official announcement that the game is in development (though unofficially we know that the game is around 30% done based on the original article translated on NeoGaf).

Exciting news honestly, I might have dropped out of the “Sim” franchise for a while when they put the focus on the people instead of the buildings, but I’m absolutely down for siccing a modern-era Godzilla on a town I spent the whole of the day creating…

Want more? Head over to NeoGaf for the translation of the original (German) article, along with concept art for the soon-to-be announced title.

Baldur’s Gate Returns:

Apparently late last night a teaser site for, what looks like, some new Baldur’s Gate content was posted. The site itself might not look like much, offering up little more a couple of images, some background music, and a single quote… But the savy consumer base that is the internet spent the day tearing through the code of the site and finding all kinds of nifty little hints.

Not being one to spoil the surprise myself (what little there is) I’m not going to delve into everything that was found here (or go through the history of the changes that the site has made since people started digging) but if you do have interest you can read on, and in the mean time I’ll provide a video that seems like it goes hand-in-hand with the teaser site that was uploaded today:

Want more? Head on over to Joystiq who’s community has been doing the majority of the heavy-lifting (while they continually update/report on the changes and info found).

Assassin’s Creed Announcement Tease:

Apparently teasing that there is an announcement coming is the new hot thing. Jumping on board with the recent trend, Ubisoft posted today on their Facebook group that there is a ‘major announcement’ coming soon. No real clear concepts of what’s going to be announced have been provided so far from the gaming public that I can find, but considering the recent announcement of the official “third” Assassin’s Creed game earlier this month, it’s safe to assume it will have something to do with that game (safe money on who the lead is this time around or where the game will be set).

The post recommends people check out the game’s website tomorrow, but chances are you’ll get the information via the grapevine or on Facebook as well.

Want more? The website is where Ubisoft wants you to head, so here’s the link.

Releases:

Wednesday generally means new games for those of us on Xbox Live and Playstation Network. Today is no different with the next title in the Xbox Live Arcade House Party line-up, and apparently today is the “official” date for Microsoft Flight (even though I downloaded it last night).

Nexuiz – Illfonic / THQ – PS3 / Xbox 360 / PC

Microsoft Flight – Microsoft Studios – PC

PSA:

Fans of our Facebook are probably already WELL aware that Shogun Gamer and its crew loves to party, especially when it is a geek/nerd themed event. Eventually it is my goal to provide you all with a live calendar of events so you know where and when Shogun Gamer is going to be partying (locally or otherwise) but for now, I figure the PSA section is a good place to let you know what’s coming up (in this case for the month of March).

Holy shit a new Baldurs Gate!!!! And new SimCity! Is there anything more to ask for!?! Although I hope Baldurs Gate holds more true to the originals rather than a major modern overhaul and not make BG anymore....

I saw the Baldurs gate skull peeking out from behind the "R" on the banner graphic on the front page, and it literally made me say out loud.

"NO fucking way! A NEW BALDURS GATE???!!!!"

Pardon the language, but I think that announcement was worth the expletive! :D

Right? Pretty exciting news, I'm impressed people were able to call that teaser from a hidden logo behind the text. WELL DONE! :D
