Soon we will be able to get the taste of the Doom movie out of our mouths, as Doom 3 is slated for re-release.
It's been seven years since the last Doom game and six since The Rock laid the smackdown on our candy asses on the silver screen. Ironically enough, the last installment in the franchise was that of Doom 3.
Doom 3 BFG Edition along with the Resurrection of Evil pack will follow the same horrific tale as its counterpart. Bethesda has made it clear that the re-release will feature some new content, including seven new levels entitled, The Lost Mission.
In terms of re-mastered specs, Doom 3 BFG has been optimized in 3D,featuring 5.1 surround sound, Xbox 360 Achievements, PlayStation 3 trophies, improved rendering and lighting, and a new check point save system allowing for smoother progression through the game. Doom 3 BFG Edition will launch sometime this year on Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3, a first for any Doom game on the latter. It wouldn't be all too surprising if we get more details and a release date during next week's E3 conference.
