After the rather talkative video that was released yesterday, WB Games and NetherRealm Studios have followed up on their promise of giving us more substantial reveals for Injustice: Gods Among Us. With the game appearing at the geek mecca that is the San Diego Comic Con it was kind of required that Injustice makes an impression and I think such a thing has definitely been achieved since two additional characters have been revealed.
Joining the usual suspects that were already announced is Nightwing, the Dark Knight’s former sidekick all grown up, and the ever dangerous Cyborg. Not entirely radical in terms of being in the game, these new reveals are nonetheless exciting and could be the mere tip of a bigger set of reveals to be made this weekend. Following the look we’ve already seen through the designs of Batman and Superman, both Nightwing and Cyborg sport a look that perfectly melds realism and comic book fantasy to give us something that’s a bit unique and not entirely derivative.

No direct gameplay videos have been released featuring Nightwing and Cyborg, but both characters are being demoed at SDCC this weekend so it’s only a matter of time before an official video is released. But if you honestly want to see something sooner rather than later then you can head over to the fine folks at Gamespot as they have footage of a small presentation NetherRealm’s Ed Boon did at SDCC last night.
It may seem like NetherRealm is playing it “safe” with the character roster so far, but we have been promised that Injustice will feature more obscure heroes & villains. So far I’m still digging the concept of the game since the art direction is hitting the right notes and the gameplay seems to be trying some interesting things that honestly aren’t seen in too many other fighting games.
Stay tuned this weekend for more possible Injustice reveals as the hype train continues in advance of the Winter 2013 release of the game.
