Usually it’s not good to over hype a mere media release, especially when it’s only a few screenshots, but in the case of GTAV such a thing is expected. Ten months removed from when we were greeted with the premier trailer, Rockstar has kept quiet as always when it comes to GTAV but today three new screens were released.
Ok, so I know that only seeing three new screens isn’t a big deal, especially when a few new screens were released last month, but on top of the media reveal Rockstar has teased us of more news to come. It’s honestly a bit too early this morning for me to put my speculation hat on, but it could be possible we’re on the cusp of the standard Rockstar pre-release media cycle, which as tradition has it kicks off with a new trailer/video of some kind. I won’t put my money down on that happening this week for GTAV, but I can’t think what else Rockstar could be teasing unless we’re going to receive a substantial batch of screens later this week.
The screens released today are fairly standard as they show some of the options the citizens of Los Santos have as transportation. Riding a bike along the beach is an option so is hitting the streets at 160mph in a sleek Cheeta, a Ferrari-esque like vehicle. Best of all, another transportation option is an actual military fighter jet, which could be a sign that GTAV will have more aerial transportation options than what was presented in GTAIV.
Visually the screens look nice but there’s not a whole lot we can get a gauge on as the general scope is limited. I’m sure Rockstar is putting their all in GTAV, but we all know in the end that seeing a new video will be the big test of whether or not the game will be great or just ok. In the wake of how gamers have reacted towards Sleeping Dogs and the ever lasting legacy Saints Row: The Third has, it’s going to be interesting to see what sort of expectations gamers have for GTAV and whether or not Rockstar will be able to meet those and in the process give us a few unexpected surprises.
