Earlier this week Rockstar Games did us a solid by releasing some new screenshots of Grand Theft Auto V. I know that a video game developer releasing media isn’t exactly breaking new ground, but considering how starved some gamers have been for any sort of GTA V update and the general secrecy Rockstar usually has about their projects it was nonetheless nice to see the game in some way, however limited it may have been.
The initial media reveal from this week did come with a tease of sorts for something else to drop and today we have yet another round of screenshots. It almost seems like we’re in some sort of parallel universe since it seems shocking for Rockstar to actually do two set of media reveals in one week as opposed to giving us a nugget once every couple of months. The screens we saw earlier this week didn’t show much other than some pretty vehicles, but today we have a better idea as to what sort of recreational activities Los Santos may provide.
Side activities in GTA IV may have been limiting as most involved babysitting the friends Niko had, but it appears that Rockstar may have learned their lesson. While exact game details about GTA IV have yet to be announced, the screens released today show some base jumping in a rather beautiful forest area, some dirt bike racing in the outskirts of Los Santos, and some tennis playing in a posh mansion. Unless Rockstar are being complete teases, one can assume that we’re likely be able to base jump in our spare time or even partake in some tennis if we want to live the lifestyle of the rich and famous.
Again it’s hard to take anything away from these screens other than how nice they look but at least Rockstar is showing us something of GTA V as opposed to keeping up in the dark the entire time. It’s still a mystery as to when the game will surface again, though I’m beginning to wonder if Rockstar will have some sort of showing at the New York Comic Con in October seeing as how they did the same with L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3 in prior years.
