The financial willingness of gamers will once again be tested thanks to WB Interactive and Injustice: Gods Among Us. There’s already a huge amount of interest in the DC based brawler created by the team at NetherRealm Studios (Mortal Kombat), but in the world of corporations that isn’t enough to guarantee a home-run as everything needs a Collector’s Edition SKU these days.
With an April 2013 release being announced last week for the game, Injustice: Gods Among Us is now being given the CE treatment in a package that doesn’t look like it features overpriced junk. Similar to the rather sweet and to the point CE that was put together for the last Mortal Kombat game, the Injustice Collector’s Edition is going to offer some nice bonus game content, a little something for comic book fans, and a rather epic showpiece statue that doesn’t look like it’s a $6 Hasbro reject.
Coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Injustice is a Collector’s Edition which includes three bonus costumes for Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman, a digital download code for the animated flick Justice League: Doom, and a special edition of an unannounced DC Comic series. That may not sound like enough content to justify spending a $99 pricetag, but the showpiece of the Injustice CE is a massive 13” inch statue which depicts Wonder Woman and Batman locked in battle.

The detail on the statue is rather impressive, but the actual pose is what really completes the package as it shows a true moment of battle similar to what we would see in the game, specifically characters beating one another down with environmental objects. Gamers in Europe will be receiving a different Injustice CE statue, which still depicts Wonder Woman and Batman in battle albeit in a more even fashion. It’s interesting that different statues are being offered in the NA and EU territories and I expect such a thing could result in high eBay prices for those looking to own both versions.

It wasn’t revealed which company was manufacturing the statue, but in the end the quality is there so even without a big name like Sideshow Collectibles gamers and comic fans are guaranteed to get a product that looks good enough to put in their Ikea glass display case.
The Wii U version of Injustice was weirdly absent from this CE announcement so it’s unknown if such a thing will be offered or if WB is playing it safe more or less.
