Killzone Indie Film To Debut Next Week

Sony may be ever so slightly dipping their toes into the live-action arena when it comes to promoting their games or merely expanding existing franchises, but they’re still a step behind the competition.  Things such as the Michael/PlayStation All-Stars videos are a good effort, though in the long run they’re not as effective or downright cool compared to things such as Halo: Forward Unto Dawn.  While Sony may be playing catch-up in a sense, a group of indie filmmakers are taking things into their own hands by bringing the world of Killzone to life.

Coming next week is Killzone: Intercept, a short live-action film made by the same folks who did Beyond Black Mesa.  If you haven’t seen Beyond Black Mesa before then I suggest you check it out as it’s proof that a Half-Life movie would be pretty awesome, even if it goes off the script of the games ever so slightly.  With the backing of Guerrilla Games, the team at Infectious Designer have gone forth creating a Killzone short film that could be as awesome as the footage shown in the Killzone: Mercenary tease.

A teaser video for Killzone: Intercept hasn’t been released yet, but a few behind the scenes images can be found in the Infectious Designer Facebook page. From the looks of it the team has nailed the look of the Helghan/ISA world and it certainly looks better from previous indie filmmaker efforts which faltered for several reasons, some of which included the fact that you could see suburban homes in the background.

The news of Killzone: Intercept may not be as boot shaking as getting a tease of Killzone 4 for the next-gen PlayStation, but it’s still exciting to see the franchise come to life in a live-action setting and more importantly that talented filmmakers such as Infectious would opt to give us their vision of the property.
