Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist Is Going To Become A Reality

As you may already know, Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist is the new venture from the team that did Street Fighter: Legacy back in 2010.  Having shown that they have the skill and passion to do SF justice, the team behind Assassin’s Fist went to the Kickstarter route to gather the additional finance required to make the series a reality.

With the Kickstarter campaign starting off slowly in gathering the £625,000 sum required for the series to move forward, some good news has just broke concerning the future of the project.  In a rare occurrence, the Kickstarter campaign for Assassin’s Fist has been cancelled in advance of the remaining days left in the campaign.  Now such a thing isn’t cause for tears since several investors have stepped up to provide the funds needed for filming to commence.

“We are pleased to announce that we look like we are good to go, and our vision of a Street Fighter series made by fans for fans will happen,” said series Co-Creator/Co-Writer/Director Joey Ansah on the Kickstarter page.  So unless something drastic happens that totally throws everything off course, we’re looking at filming for Assassin’s Fist to commence this year with the first episode set to debut this year as well – just in time for the 25th anniversary of the Street Fighter series.

If this news doesn’t make Street Fighter fans ecstatic then I honestly don’t know what will since this is a huge deal.  We may all love the original SF film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme since it’s so cheesy, but it’s nice to know that we’re finally going to receive a proper live-action series based on the franchise that has an immense amount of passion behind it.
