Last weekend we received a ton of info concerning Resident Evil: Retribution via series star Milla Jovovich. Full cast and plot updates weren’t dispensed, but Milla did reveal quite a bit such as one of the plot details and that Sienna Guillory would indeed be returning as Jill Valentine. Given how silent things have been concerning the new Resident Evil flick, it was nice to get some details on it even if it was confirmed neither Ray Stevenson nor Jensen Ackles would be in the film as Barry Burton and Leon S. Kennedy.
Since we don’t know what sort of adventures we’ll see Alice, Barry Burton and Leon S. Kennedy embark on in RE: Retribution it’s a complete mystery what the plot of the film will be. But things ought to get interesting based on the reveal of one cast member. None other than Michelle Rodriguez will be joining the cast in Resident Evil: Retribution and yes – she will be reprising her role from the first RE film. According to horror site Bloody Disgusting, Michelle will be reprising her role of Umbrella soldier Rain Acampo - who as some of you know met her demise at the end of Resident Evil.
The addition of Michelle and the return of Rain Ocampo in Resident Evil: Retribution is an interesting one and I don’t know how to feel about it. However wacky the RE films have been so far at least they haven’t resurrected characters that became obvious zombie chow or succumbed to whatever biological virus they had inside of them. Maybe Rain’s appearance will be that of a minor flashback cameo, rumor has it Wesker’s appearance in the film will be cameo based, or maybe Paul W.S. Anderson is just going to say screw it and make Rain return from the dead complete with superhuman powers.
Resident Evil: Retribution was already shaping up to be a somewhat crowded film with four primary video game characters featured in the flick, and now things are no doubt going to get more complicated with the return of Michelle Rodriguez to the franchise. Though perhaps the return of Michelle is a good omen of sorts since many out there consider the first RE movie to be the best so it may be nice to see a familiar face. So maybe with a little old-school flavor and a heavy video game presence Resident Evil: Retribution will be the RE film that gamers have been wanting for the last couple of years.
We’re mere weeks away from the official start of principal photography on Resident Evil: Retribution so we ought to receive some more cast updates and perhaps a teaser image or two shortly.
WTF well first of all Michelle's character was awesome in RE1 so why kill it?But ill say this,Sienna G+Michelle=WIN...pure hotness.
