Last month it was announced that LittleBigPlanet would be getting the much wanted addition of water. Before users had to simulate water by having players use jetpacks in areas that were given a blue hue or blue covered glass to simulate the depths of the sea but now we’ll actually be able to mess around in physics based water. Invites for the water beta have gone out and one user was nice enough to record some footage for the world to see.
The first thing you may notice from watching the footage below is that the water looks pretty gorgeous. Not only does it have proper physics for things that float on surface but it has corresponding surface ripples and appropriate murky shadows when you delve below. Besides that it looks like we’ll also be getting some new creation tools with the water add-on release as the video shows off an oxygen tank generator.
Based on the footage the water add-on seems to have a ton of potential to create even crazier levels than we’ve seen in the past. The way platforms react in the water should provide for some interesting levels if used properly.
The old Vimeo video was removed. Here is a french video showing off the water in action within create mode.
Awesome!
Another great addition to LBP. I can't wait to see what people will do with this.
More tools=awesome. This should definitely open up some interesting level design.
thats cool lbp really needs this add on
