LucasArts yesterday on Star Wars Day announced that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 will be released on October 26 2010.
Another interesting revelation about the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed brand comes to life via an interview with long time LucasArts employees, Haden Blackman and Julio Torres that will be published in the upcoming June 2010 issue of GamePro magazine.
Blackman and Torres revealed that back in 2005 before Star Wars: The Force Unleashed officially became the next Star Wars game franchise, the duo toyed with the idea of creating a new Star Wars game with Chewbacca as the main character.
The game would had been based on The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. Blackman descibed the game, "It was going to be a big open world, and you'd be running around, and you'd be able to grab the heads of AT-STs and throw them at stormtroopers. It was a very over the top-style superhero game."
They pitched the idea to George Lucas and it was ejected because Lucas wanted the new Star Wars games to stress on character interaction and dialog. Lucas ended up going with the idea for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed as the newest Star Wars game and after selling almost over 7 millions copies, it seems like he made the right choice.
The game would had been interesting to play especially seeing on how they would had progress the story within the game with a main character that can't talk. Subtitles maybe? I guess we will never know thus missing our opportunity to totally unleashed our Wookie rage on The Empire.
