Geekgasm alert: Christopher Nolan may do an Inception video game

In news that almost sounds too good to be true, director Christopher Nolan has revealed that there could be a game based on his hit film Inception at some point.  The possibility of an Inception game isn’t in some far off dream world that itself exists in a dream, but an Inception game is far from 100% official at this point.

Nolan revealed the Inception video game news in a recent press conference held in Rome.Of said Inception video game, Nolan said "We are looking at doing is developing a videogame based on the world of the film, which has all kinds of ideas that you can't fit into a feature film.  That's something we've been talking about and are looking at doing long term, in a couple of years."

So the key things about an Inception video game are 1. Nolan apparently is looking into it himself and 2. If an Inception game is greenlit it won’t be out for at least three to four years.  Usually it’s all gloom and doom when news breaks of a hit movie being adapted into a video game but I couldn’t be more ecstatic.  Given Nolan’s strict supervision for things directly related to his films, we could see an Inception game that is actually good instead of being a quick cash-in at the hands of Warner Brothers.  Also, as a fan of Inception I can’t help but be excited at the prospect of seeing the world of Inception spun-off into the realm of video games.  While we may not see the continued adventures of Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio), Eames (Tom Hardy) or Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), I’m still interested to see whatever Nolan comes up with.

So who would be a good developer for an Inception game? With Warner Brothers most likely wanting to keep development of the project within the WB Games family I’m going to throw out developer Rocksteady as a potential candidate. While it’s definitely a stretch on multiple levels, I won’t let anyone give me a push so I can awaken from my level 3 dream of gaming bliss.

I was thinking the same ian,Rocksteady would be a sure candidate. And just wow if this becomes real. Knowing Nolan and his resume, this is a gem to be made.

Part of me says "IDK about this one.  Last time a movie with this much fanfare was made into a video game & the director of said movie also directed the game (or the cut scenes, can't remember), we got Enter the Matrix.  Which wasn't terrible, but was, as Ian said "a quick cash-in at the hands of Warner Brothers" Anybody see a common denominator?

The other part says "Inception on PS3, clean up in aisle 3" Cuz I'm sure if a Matrix game came out on the PS3/360, it wouldn't have been the mess it was on last gen consoles.  Not only that, Nolan won't put out crap for a quick buck.
