With the PS3 now supporting motion control with the PlayStation Move and essentially becoming as some like to call it “Wii HD”, we shouldn’t be too surprised if certain Wii games are ported up to the PS3. In fact even it was a mere month ago when developer High Voltage Software announced they would be taking their supernatural themed fps game The Grinder to the PS3/360.
At the time of that announcement High Voltage didn’t divulge any details as to the nature of the port and many assumed that it would merely be a HD version of the game but we couldn’t be farther from the mark.
High Voltage has revealed that the PS3/360 version of The Grinder will be a 4-player top-down shooter akin to old arcade games. So yeah, we’re getting yet another twin-stick shooter instead of yet another fps game. It’s a lose-lose situation for all.
The reasoning behind this change in genre is chalked up to High Voltage not wanting to compete in a genre that is extremely crowded on the PS3/360. I really can’t blame them for that though I’m still a bit unsure about this whole top-down shooter thing. I mean I guess it works but isn’t there a decent amount of games in that genre on the PS3/360 as well?
At this time it’s also unclear if the Wii version will remain as an fps or if it’ll jump ship to another genre as well. Chances are that Wii owners have nothing to worry about as the platform isn’t exactly filled to the brim with fps games let alone games aimed at a mature audience. So Wii owners get a cool horror fps game while PS3 and 360 owner’s wil have to settle for a top-down shooter which will presumably be made available on the PSN and XBLA.

So instead of making a game in a genre that is "extremely crowded" they're making one in a genre no one cares about... interesting.
