House of the Dead Is Finally Making Its Debut On The PS3 This Year

I can finally put my PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter to good use again since Sega has announced a PlayStation 3 port of House of the Dead: Overkill.  Originally for the Wii, HotD: Overkill proved to be one of the best on-rails shooters for the platform since it’s always fun to shoot zombies in the head and the almost profuse potty mouth nature of the game was almost irresistible.  Now Sega is giving PlayStation 3 gamers some on-rails zombie action with House of the Dead: Overkill Extended Cut.

House of the Dead’s debut on the PS3 may prove to be a bit of a retread for gamers who played the game on the Wii, but it will have the added incentive of HD visuals, PlayStation Move support, and 3D gaming if you have a 3D TV (I’m envious of you if you do have one).  Sega additionally has added some new game modes and game content to Overkill Extended Cut, but they haven’t disclosed what it is just yet.

From the screens that Sega has released today, the game looks rather good so it doesn’t appear like we’re getting a half assed port.  So instead of receiving low-poly zombies with textures that are barely passable on the HD systems, we’re getting the deliciously decayed zombies we all love to load a few bullets into before turning their heads into a nice rainbow of chunks, blood and brain matter.

House of the Dead: Overkill Extended Cut will make its way on the PlayStation 3 on October 25th in North America and October 28th in Europe.  As a gamer who loves on-rails games and shooting some zombie heads off on an easy going afternoon, I’m definitely excited about House of the Dead’s debut on the PS3.
