This announcement was bound to happen sooner or later: the hit PlayStation 3 open-world superhero game “inFAMOUS” is in the early stages to become a movie.
I think I just heard the mass wave of groans after people just read that news. The film is of course being handled by Sony Pictures and Avi and Ari Arad, who are also producing the "Uncharted" movie, will be producing ‘inFAMOUS.” I guess Avi and Ari are officially onboard the video game bandwagon and I wonder what other properties they have in mind to adapt.
Screenwriter Sheldon Turner has been hired to write the film and I’m interested to see what direction he takes the story since the game was pretty solid in that respect. Turner’s previous work includes “The Longest Yard” and “Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.” That’s not exactly the best resume but considering Turner has a comic book coming out from Top Cow perhaps he is the man for the job to adapt the superhero tale that is “inFAMOUS.”
Obviously it’s a bit too early to go into panic mode and proclaim that the movie is doomed. For all we know the movie may not ever be greenlit for production and this could merely be Sony trying to see which IP of theirs would work best as a movie. I do have to say that it’s nice to see Sony Pictures finally take advantage of the some the video game properties as there are a few that would definitely make awesome movies, Killzone and Ratchet & Clank to come mind.
So is anyone hyped to see an “inFAMOUS” movie or would you rather have the adventures of Cole and friends in Empire City mainly stick to the PlayStation 3?

Holy video game movies batman. I dream of the day they make a good video game movie. *sigh* It's fun to pretend.
OMG I WAS RIGHT...i said this in the uncharted thread i didnt think this would be so soon
I agree with Corey, video game-based movies aren't good. I just hope this changes that.
Sold!!And since everything is becoming a movie these days, lets just say that everything will be turned into a movie.
boycott video games movies now! At this point I would rather see a movie based on laundry detergent
...At this point I would rather see a movie based on laundry detergent
That movie would clean up at the box office.

HAHAHAAH. I both enjoyed and deserved that.
Ya this is getting ridiculous. EVERY game seems to be getting a movie now. They have been scraping the bottom of the barrel with sequels and prequels for movies (games too) and now there new idea is take make every hit game a movie. Shame nobody wants to take chances on new ideas.
I have been saying that for a long time now schumi. I hate that they can't make anything origianl anymore. I think this game could make a good movie but they will probably change the story so much that it will probably blow but as they said it is way to early to tell just yet.
A MGS movie would be impossible to make. And I agree with james00722, they will probably change the story, it's always like that.
if i remember correctly there makeing a mgs movie....idk if it was announced but i remember reading somewhere kojima was oing to allow it....o god...NOT MY PRESIOUS METAL GEAR
I believe David Hayter is involved in it too.

He wants to be involved but the studio basically said "no thanks."
Well Diegocr the project was planned to be live action so an entirely new actor will be playing Snake and not merely doing the voice acting for the role. A few years ago, perhaps 3, Kojima mentioned in an interview that the MGS movie wouldn't be based on any of the games and instead be a separate story. But of course who knows if thats still the case or if the film will be based on one of the games.
Have Kojima involved heavily in the movie and we should do fine. And WTF,never say no to David Hayter!!

Yes, a MGS movie is in some stage of development with Sony Pictures and the last piece of news anyone heard about the project was that Kurt Whimmer (Ultraviolet) was hired to take a stab at the script. That piece of news is from over a year ago and since then it has been totally silent.
