Twitter has its fair share of video game pundits and so-called “industry insiders” who are usually full of shit. But one such Twitter poster who isn’t full of shit is the mysterious Veracious Shit. Unlike most of the other rumor mongers out there Veracious Shit has been on the mark. Inside info on the troubled development of LA Noire and the whole Activision/Infinity Ward debacle has proved that Veracious Shit knows...well...their shit.
Veracious Shit has been under the radar recently, but the mysterious insider posted an interesting update. According to Veracious Shit, Just Cause 2 developer Avalanche Studios is working on a movie tie-in game for a major sci-fi blockbuster.
Well, alright--Avalanche Studios is working a 2012 sci-fi blockbuster movie tie-in. I think that's vague enough that I could feel guiltless.
As I previously said, Veracious Shit hasn’t been wrong in the past so barring any unforeseen occurrences, this piece of news is definitely happening. While some out there may be bummed to hear that Avalanche isn’t pumping out another Just Cause installment I’m rather hyped for this news. I may not have been totally sold on Just Cause 2 but given the talent Avalanche has I’m really interested to see what they do with a movie game.
Now the big question is “What movie are they adapting?” With a 2012 release it’s a bit hard to nail down a film since the there 2012 release scheduled is far from finalized. But I’m going to put myself out there and say that “Battleship: The Movie” and “John Carter of Mars” are definite possibilities. Both are set for a 2012 release and are being groomed to be blockbuster releases.
It’ll probably be awhile before we hear any sort of official confirmation concerning Avalanche’s mystery project. Will Avalanche Studios finally give us the movie game goodness we’ve all been waiting for?
