Sony is continuing their marketing push outside the world of video games with another venture with the venerable chain 7-Eleven. As you can no doubt tell by the picture above this time Sony is pushing the God of War series with a series of cups, promotional items and even a God of War Slurpee flavor.
Starting on February 1 gamers can go to their local 7-Eleven to try out the Kratos Slurpee flavor (a blend of blackberry and lime) which was created by the always stellar Mountain Dew. You know the Kratos Slurpee is going to be amazing since Mountain Dew was responsible for the Halo and Warcraft drinks and they know what gamers want out of a tasty beverage. (rolleyes.gif)
But there will be some cool things offered to gamers as the Kratos Slurpee along with two-liter and 20-ounce Mountain Dew products will contain codes for God of War DLC. The content offered in these codes range from small things such as behind-the-scenes videos and PS3 themes to more substantial stuff such as new armor for Kratos.
All in all Sony’s latest venture with 7-Eleven seems pretty solid. I’m happy to see that Sony is really pushing the God of War franchise and it’s also nice that they’re starting to advertise more to the mainstream since several TV commercials will air for the 7-Eleven promotion. Though I have to say I’m a bit disappointed the Kratos Slurpee isn’t blood red. I mean c’mon, blueberry and lime? You might as well put a little fancy umbrella in the drink if that’s the best the angriest man in video games can get.

Everyone knows the key to the American market is through Slurpees.

LOL. Yeah even as a Canadian I was really on the fence about this game. It might get repetitive, but it looks pretty, it's so awesomely epic and violent, but bodies disappear...hmmm... OH KRATOS SLURPEE CUPS?! *sold*
Oh yeah because its 20 degrees outside and I'm thinking about a slurpee. bad timing unless you live in warm weather territory.

It's pretty frustrating to see all these kinds of offers, promotions, and special beverages are only in N.A. The Japanese have their array of this type of things as well.
And I though here in UK was quite bad, Costa Rica must be devoid of any promotional campaigns.
While there are a nice number of gamers here, like over a thousand or two from four million, video game companies don't see spending much money on promotional campaigns here better than in N.A. Costa Rica is not recognized as a priority for major companies to invest money in. Once this country decides to make its presence more known to the world and gain more economic power, then things will start changing. But it's something that will take many years of development, because it's technologically behind first-world countries like the U.S. and Japan, respectivelly.
In other words, gamers here are in a clear disadvantage. An example is that everything is more expensive. To prove this, I saw Modern Warfare 2 selling for $99,37 USD in a store. Prices depend on each store and what they want to charge for the game, but even in Sony Style a game like Uncharted 2 was at $88,73 USD like a month ago.
Its like 20 here in Chicago, and you bet ill be sporting a new one at skool everyday. They look awesome.
Decidedly, I'm disgusted by this move. I hate this type of marketing. I really do.

Most epic Slurpee around. Except for that one I drank out of the Crystal Head Vodka skull bottle. But this is a close second.
