LucasArts announces Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars

If your Lego Star Wars appetite wasn’t satisfied with the previous three video game iterations then you’re in luck as LucasArts today announced Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars.  Once again developer Traveler's Tales is stepping in to provide another installment of the widely popular Lego Stars Wars series with a new title that promises to combine new gameplay elements with the simple and somewhat goofy Lego style gameplay that’s expected from the franchise.

As some may have gleamed from the title of the game, Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars will cover the events that bridge Episodes 2 and 3 of the prequels which means that characters from the animated Clone Wars show will make an appearance in the game.  But if you’re not a fan of characters such as Cad Bane or Asajj Ventress then you need not worry as the game will also feature prominent characters from the classic Star Wars universe.

Along with offering new characters and story elements the game will also include a few additional game modes and elements to keep things fresh in case the Lego charm was starting to wear off for some. So far LucasArts and Traveler's Tales have only divulged a small sampling of what we can expect. The head-to-head Battle Mode wwill pit players against one another and an improved level builder will allow players to create customized bases and battlefields.

New moves and abilities such as Lightsaber jumps, Lightsaber slicing, long distance Jedi attacks and Squad commands will also be available to players when Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars is released this Autumn on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and the PSP.

I'm assuming the Clone Wars they are covering is the one currently on Cartoon Network and not the original Clone War shorts (which were way better)
