Our First Look At Scorpion In Mortal Kombat: Rebirth Doesn't Disappoint At All

Our wish has finally been granted and today we have the first image of Scorpion from the upcoming live-action Mortal Kombat web series.  For the past month or so we’ve gotten some nice casting details and behind-the-scenes pics from the new Mortal Kombat project and today we have the big payoff in a cool albeit slightly small pic of Scorpion donned in his classic yellow ninja costume.

Mortal Kombat: Rebirth has been filming for the past couple of weeks in preparation for its April 19th release, but the production seems to be moving at a brisk pace as we have an image of Scorpion that looks absolutely perfect. This image of Scorpion comes from the Twitter account of MK: Rebirth Director Kevin Tancharoen and I think we should all thank him for sharing this image with us.  There’s not a great deal of context given to the image, but it shows Scorpion standing in a snow laden forest, perhaps ready to face off against Sub-Zero, who we’ve already gotten a tease for.

The image itself is rather simple, but the framing of it and the design of Scorpion’s costume (which isn’t too stylized) is what has me going into complete fan hype mode.  It’s nice to finally see what an iconic MK character looks like in MK: Rebirth and that the creative staff didn’t do anything too radical with Scorpion’s look or give him a look that appears overly cheap.

If the rest of the MK characters look this good in Rebirth then I think the project will be freaking amazing if it retains the level of style found in the original pitch video and this Scorpion image.  All we need now is casting confirmation on the remaining cast and who the hell is playing Sub-Zero.
