Sony announces release dates for Socom 4 and PlayStation Move Heroes

As earlier reports indicated, Sony has finally revealed when the PlayStation Move centric PlayStation Move Heroes and the next installment of the popular Socom franchise will be released.  After being delayed from its original Holiday 2010 release window, the next installment of Zipper Interactive’s Socom franchise will be ready for duty in April.  Socom 4 could become a huge title amongst PS3 gamers since it’s from a beloved franchise and also because the game supports the PlayStation Move and the recently revealed PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter controller.

I was a bit bummed out when Socom 4 got delayed, especially since I got a good taste of the new single-player campaign at E3 last year. But it’s nice to know that we won’t have to wait too long to see what Zipper has done with fifth installment of the franchise. Also, Socom 4 dropping in April is perfect as the month is usually all but dead as far as enticing releases are concerned.

Sony has also announced that PlayStation Move Heroes will be available in North America on March 22nd.  Earlier this month we got word that PlayStation Move Heroes would be dropping in Japan which led many to believe the game was soon be destined for the shores of the U.S.  PlayStation Move Heroes hasn’t exactly been billed as a marquee game so far, but it does have the potential to be moderately interesting if it amounts to being more than a mini-game collection held together by the appeal of the Sly Cooper, Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter franchises.
