I guess THQ felt like they didn’t have enough WWE games as a brand new one is being added to their stable. No, I’m not talking about the surprisingly awesome WWE All Stars or the Asia-only release WWE Online. According to CVG, THQ will be releasing an entirely new WWE game featuring even more man-on-man action, complete with boring storylines filled with silliness.
THQ has likened the new and still unannounced game to the upcoming WWE All Stars in terms of not being a “sim” like the Smackdown series. THQ core games head Danny Bilson was of course coy about the new WWE project as he commented that the new game would be different compared to All Stars and Smackdown.
Wrestling video games are pretty straight forward as it’s either sim or arcade, two things that THQ has covered. So what can we expect from the next WWE game? THQ has been rather smart lately with their games so perhaps they’re going to do something innovative with the WWE brand such as releasing a 3rd person action/adventure game. It may sound silly but give me some insane beat ‘em up action that’s more fluid than what we see in standard wrestling games and I’m there day 1. Or maybe THQ is resurrecting the WWE Crush Hour franchise, which makes me shudder at the mere thought.
