It begins again! Capcom has become a big, BIG fan of releasing and then continuously re-releasing their big fighting franchises. I guess that’s not really new, but it’s only of late that I’ve started to really become annoyed by it. In the modern era of downloadable content, reselling me the same game over and over with a bit of new content each time is starting to feel more and more like a d*ck move. Or is that just me?
My persona nerd-rage aside, Capcom announced the upcoming release of their newest addition to their existing fighting game line-up, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, this week during Comic-Con.
“What does it include!?” I hear you screaming at your computer monitors, clearly on the opposite of the “Cut this crap out Capcom” fence from I, and of the opinion that I can hear you scream the through the internet. Well, ‘Ultimate’ will introduce a bevy of new-ness to your Marvel vs. Capcom 3 gaming experience, including: 8 new stages, several new modes (notably spectator for you voyeur types out there), and 15 new characters which brings the new total up to a rather sizeable cast of 50.
Now, officially, only four of the new characters have been announced by Capcom so far: Strider and Firebrand from Capcom, Ghost Rider and Hawkeye from Marvel. However, a post over on NeoGAF leaked the entire roster, which includes a number of characters that were originally cut from the release of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (namely Capcom’s Frank West and Phoenix Wright). So, if you don’t want to play the slow-release game where Capcom announces one or two characters every couple of weeks at the upcoming conventions, here’s the full list for you:
Ghost Rider, Hawkeye, Dr. Strange, Nova, Iron Fist, and Rocket Raccoon from Marvel; Vergil, Phoenix Wright, Frank West, Firebrand, Strider, and Nemesis from Capcom.
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 drops in November for the discounted price of $39.99.
I'm all for Nova and Iron Fist being in the game, but it seems to me like they're leaving room for yet another one of these. I mean, where's Venom/Carnage/Megaman? Having spectator in a player match lobby should have been included from the start. So aggravating -_-
