Uncharted 3 is shaping up to be a complete blockbuster experience for a few major reasons. Obviously the biggest thing UC3 has going for it is that it’s the sequel to one of the most adored games to hit this generation and it also helps that the game is just fine as hell to look at. Developer Naughty Dog may not have made a massive leap in the visuals department compared to UC1 and UC2, but Uncharted 3 still looks nice but isn’t simple eye candy.
In addition to the single-player campaign, which will be shown off heavily next week at E3, and the recently revealed multiplayer mode, Uncharted 3 will also have a specially tailored co-op mode. Beyond offering some distinct co-op action in the multiplayer mode, Uncharted 3 will offer a narrative based co-op mode where one gamer can play as Nathan and the other as one of his many allies such as Sully. Naughty Dog was nice enough to release a video of the new co-op mode which you can check out below. The action is very in the co-op vid appears to strike a good balance between having the standard Uncharted style action moments (Nathan shooting guys, doing massive leaps across the environment) with some cool new additions like having to acquire an item with your ally and being able to shoot whilst climbing a wall.
Naughty Dog has yet to detail how long the UC3 co-op mode will be or how many guest appearances we can expect to see. So far Sully has been the only co-op partner announced for the game, but I’m hoping we’ll see Chloe Frazer in action merely because I think her character is awesome and I’m in love with Claudia Black’s voice.
Since Sony knows that gamers are incredibly hyped for Uncharted 3, the company has announced the Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Collector’s Edition. Being yet another Sony 1st party CE, the Collector’s Edition has some cool content like a replica of Nathan’s belt buckle and necklace, a steelbook case for the game and a nice treasure chest replica to put all the goodness in. But what I find to be really cool is the Nathan Drake statue that’s also included in the CE. Not only does this mark the first time we’re getting a major piece of Uncharted merchandise (why isn’t there an action figure line yet?) but the statue itself is being created by Sideshow Collectibles, the same company that did the amazing God of War Kratos statue. The Nathan statue doesn’t look to be that large, but it still ought to be nice to place a faithfully accurate depiction of adventurer extraordinaire Nathan Drake on a shelf in your humbled abode.
The Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Collector’s Edition will only cost $99 which is pretty reasonable considering it comes with a Sideshow Collectibles product. I must make my disappointment known about the somewhat dull art for the steelbook included in the CE, but at least I’ll have a baller new belt buckle to use that hopefully won’t make me look like a complete ass.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception will be arriving on the PlayStation 3 on November 11th, 2011.
