If you haven’t heard already due to living in a cave Robert Rodriguez (Desperado, Sin City) is producing a new Predator film based on a script he wrote a few years ago. But unlike his other projects Robert won’t be stepping in the directors’ chair as that honor goes to Nimrod Antal.

First teaser for the movie relaunch of the classic cg cartoon ReBoot

Back in the mid 90s before Pixar released Toy Story a Vancouver based company named Mainframe Entertainment beat Pixar to the punch by producing a weekly half hour CG cartoon called ReBoot.  ReBoot was almost an updated version of Tron as it took place inside a computer and followed the adventures of Guardian Bob as he fought off the evil virus Megabyte.  While the show may sound simple it was actually exceptionally written as it featured a nice amount of actual tec

Afrika may not be a perfect safari but it's still enjoyable

Overall Feeling:

Afrika may not be an extremely deep game or reach the fill potential that the E3 2006 trailer showed but it's still an enjoyable game despite the issues it has. Taking photos of an elephant or cheetah may not sound that exciting but once you play the game for an hour or so there's just something addictive and very relaxing about traversing the African landscape snapping photos of animals that look and react like their real life counterparts.

The Pros:

Good visuals for most of the animal models. The game is very relaxing and easy to get into which makes it accessible for young players to veteran gamers. Taking photos may not sound that exciting but there's a nice amount of mission variety which should keep things interesting for everyone. The sweeping orchestral score is just amazing and really brings things to the next level in terms of immersion.

The Cons:

Some of the environment and animal textures look a bit flat which slightly takes things down a bit. Having loading screens between areas while understandable just feels off and somewhat breaks the mood of things since you need to wait 10-15 seconds for the next area to load. The controls for the Jeep don't feel as responsive as they could be.

After being shown at Sony’s E3 2006 press conference there was one game that had quite an aura of mystery around it and that game was Afrika.  Despite being shown at a conference filled with high profile games like Resistance, Heavenly Sword and being the birthplace for the “Massive Damage” meme there was something about Afrika that got a certain amount of buzz from gamers.  Seeing the African landscapes recreated on the PS3 with animals that moved and acted like their real life counterparts was really intriguing despite the whole question about what sort of game it would be.

EA and Visceral Games could be making a Jack the Ripper game

After taking us through a horrifying adventure in space with Dead Space and soon taking us to the depths of hell with Dante's Inferno it looks like EA's Visceral Games development studio could be taking on a more grounded subject and setting with their next game.  According to the Superannuation blog back in July everyone seemed to have overlook an interview via the LA Times Blog which hinted that Visceral's next game would be based on the infamous Jack the Ripper. According to a trademark EA filed the game will have the extremely original title of "The Ripper."

Liam Neeson looks badass in this new pic from Clash of the Titans

I don't know why we haven't seen more movies based around Greek mythology. The characters and stories are rich and are prime material for a summer action movie or a smaller dramatic film so it's quite odd why Hollywood or anyone else hasn't jumped on the Greek mythology bandwagon.  Damn, I think the last movie to tackle it was Clash of the Titans back in 1981 and now since that movie is being remade we'll finally getting some more Greek mythology goodness.

Dirt 2 fills a void in the racing genre

Overall Feeling:

Dirt 2 is the game off-road racing fans have been wanting as it offers an experience that pays respect to the sport and makes it accessible to play compared to sim heavy titles like Gran Turismo. The controls could still use a bit of fine tuning but are definitely better than what was in the previous installment. Dirt 2 is as fresh an experience as its predecessor was and if you want an off-road racing game that doesn't involve cars that have nitro or involve pulling off tricks then Dirt 2 is the game for you.

The Pros:

The game is visually appealing and has a really original interface that never gets boring to navigate. This is a game that requires skill in order to succeed but it has the perfect balance of being user friendly and not strictly for the pros. Dirt 2 also has an excellent soundtrack and is one of the few racing games that knows how to use music properly. All the modes and tracks in the single-player mode are available in the multiplayer mode which runs smoothly both on a technical and interface side.

The Cons:

Controls still feel a tad bit loose, especially early on in the game which may result in some frustration. Even though there's a nice amount of tracks to race around you may grow tired of racing on the same ones constantly when you reach the higher levels in the game as the event variations seem pointless.

When it comes to racing games there’s never a lack of variety.  If you want a realistic driving experience you can pick up titles like Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport which is essentially porn for car enthusiasts. But if your vehicular instincts lay on the arcade side of things you have games like Burnout, Motorstorm and Midnight Club.

Is the PSP Go worth picking up?

Overall Feeling:

The PSP Go is a slick system that works really well when it comes to form factor and design but is held back by a wallet punching price tag. If you're an existing PSP owner it's almost pointless to pick up the Go unless you're ready to abandon your old PSP. Just like the PS3 we're going to have a situation where people won't be picking up the PSP Go because of a price tag that is just ridiculous.

The Pros:

Sleek design that despite the smaller size feels incredibly good when it's in your hands. The screen is as sharp as ever and doesn't feel too small. And finally the PSP is a system that you can easily take with you since the size of the PSP Go makes it extremely easy and comfortable to put in pockets or bags.

The Cons:

The price tag. Seriously, the thing is a deal breaker and will surely prevent many from picking the console up. The lack of any new features or key improvements make the PSP Go a console that doesn't have that immediate "I need to get this now" factor.

When it comes to console redesigns Sony really doesn’t seem to be getting a lot of love. A lot of people hated the look of the PS3 Slim despite liking its new slimmer form factor but when it came to the PSP Go almost everyone seemed to trash it.  Now is this a case of people not understanding what Sony is trying to achieve with the PSP Go or are they justified in their disdain for the new addition to the PSP family?

Zombieland has the perfect mix of action, comedy and good old fashioned zombie violence

Overall Feeling:

Zombieland is probably one of the surprise movies of the year. Instead of giving us a movie that has a lot of zombie gore and lame gags to go along with it we have a movie that has a lot of heart and focuses on the characters instead of giving us zombie gore porn. The acting and writing is spot-on and the film is just entertaining as hell.

The Pros:

Really good acting from the cast especially from Woody Harrelson. The writing knows when to keep things serious and when it's time for the silliness but it never goes overboard when it comes to the jokes and their meaning or execution. Zombieland also features a nice amount of action most of which looks like it was ripped out of the game "Dead Rising." The movie also has the best cameo appearance ever to be in a movie but I won't spoil who it is.

The Cons:

The last act while good almost feels a bit rushed and has a few dumb decisions made by the characters. Other than that there's not much to harp on the movie aside from perhaps giving us a bigger look at the emotional impact the zombie apocalypse has on the characters.

Zombies movies aren’t anything new and over the years we’ve seen a ton hit theaters with the first big one being George Romero’s classic “Night of the Living Dead” in 1968. As the years went on most of the movies that have dealt with the zombie menace have had the same type of characters and storylines and really haven’t done anything new.  Not everyone is expecting deep drama with their zombie movies but aside from “28 Days Later” and a few other smaller films most zombie movies are just carbon copies of one another.

In case you care here are some images from The Green Hornet

Outside of casting news we have no clue what the hell to expect from the film version of “The Green Hornet.”  When the movie was first announced writer/star Seth Rogan said the movie would be quite serious but then Stephen Chow came aboard and was reportedly going to incorporate some of his comical trademarks in the film but then exited the project due to creative differences. And who the hell knows if the once rumored plot that the movie would revolved around a world where superheroes are rich stoners is still true.
